Please explain how to give your diabetic dog their insulin shot

okay what i'm going to do here today is show you how to give a diabetic dog her insulin first off we have the insulin here okay as you can see my dog has takes novolin in i have found out that most insulin that you end up getting prescribed for dogs will be the end kind there are like insulins that have r i will say to shop around for the insulin um i have gotten this at walmart it is about 25 dollars if you try and go to other stores they may charge you as much as a hundred so always shop around these are the needles this is the box it comes in if you get 100 needles as you can see it's 30 gauge it's eight millimeter needles it means that the needles are relatively small that way you're not accidentally like puncturing the meat of the dog um right here where it says three tens of milliliters cc what it means is i can dose up to 30 units okay get one of these for you as you can see these are this is the package that it would come in you can buy these as just a single pouch now it will have 10 needles in each pouch it comes perforated at the top this is a needle like i said you can go all the way up to 30 knee or 30 units okay my dog currently is on 12 units so i'll fill up to the 12 mark and the gift for the units that way as you can see that is the length of the needle these are the smaller ones okay my dog also gets one cup of dog food i usually use a solo cup because she's a little bigger you never want to give her more than what the vet says um it can offset their glucose levels and cause them to have very serious problems so what you do is you're going to remove the end to show the plunger and the tip of the needle you have your insulin you always want to shake it that way when you look at it it's the nice like milky looking substance okay you simply turn the vial upside down you take the needle plunge it in and you pull back on the plunger now as you can see it is filling up you're always going to want to go past the mark that you actually give as you can see i pulled a low past 15 units i'm only supposed to give my dog 12 and the reason you do that is so you can push it back down and that way any air bubbles that are in here you get rid of okay you take it out you want to leave this to the side for a second you got to let it get room temperature now what i'm going to do now pour my dog's food in the dish giving her the food now now i've found that it's good to always do it as she's eating um what you want to do is find a place i usually try and go somewhere near the shoulder blades where the skin's nice and loose give it a little bit of a pull you're going to take the needle and push it into the skin you're going to feel a little pressure when you do that that's it popping through the skin and just push the plunger all the way down make sure you get all of it and then you want to rub the skin where you gave the shot because after so many shots and you know getting shot all the time she gets a shot twice a day it's every 12 hours it can get a little tender so you just kind of want to massage the skin and also let her know that she's a good girl and that is how you give a dog their insulin shot thank you
