so today we're going to learn our rev-match downshifting and i think this is a skill that everyone who drives a stick-shift tional unfortunately it can be a little tricky to understand especially if you are new to driving stick shift so what I'm going to do is break it down into two steps we're going to learn the rev-match first then we're going to add the downshift along with the rev-match then we're going to blend them both together to get a very quick Rev match downshift that is very useful and you can use it every day you drive stick on the street or on the highway you should already be comfortable with driving a stick shift and down shifting going from say 4 to 3 and just smoothly letting out your clutch and comfortable with your pedals so this is something you can learn on the street and the perfect speed is around 50 kilometers an hour the perfect gears are from 4 to 3 and 5 to 4 you can practice that after you got good at 4 to 3 at the end of the video I am using a 5 to 4 so you can see that so now we're going to learn the rev matching and for this you're just going to put it in 4th gear and try to keep your speed around 50 kilometres an hour and all you are doing is using your gas and clutch you are not shifting at all so it won't touch your shifter just put your hands on your wheel and all you're doing is clutching in topping your gas and clutching out if you do it correctly the car will stay at a steady speed if you let out the clutch too early the car will try to accelerate and if you let it out too late you will probably feel a bit of a jerky feeling and the car will try to break on you this is something you gotta practice over and over to get comfortable with your clutch release and your topping of the gas the top of the gas is just a good hard top you don't stay steady gas and you don't rub it up and down just a good hard slap of the pedal and you're off so you can see in the video that is just a good hard top you're going to press your clutch to the floor give your gas a hard top and bring your clutch show when the RPMs climb you bring your clutch out not before and not after so clutch in top clutch Oh clutch in top foot show fortune going to go in you're going to wait a breath a blink of an eye a quarter of a second just a small second just small amount of time then you're going to tap your gas and then the clutch is going to come remember when the clutch goes in your apportioning your downshift at the same time so here is an example where we would use a wrap match downshift we're behind this truck and I want to pass I want to use fourth gear I'm not going to pass the truck this time I'm just going to do the fourth gear so gas off clutch in top gas clutch Oh so let's see that again hand on the shifter gasps aw point now I have a lot of more torque to pass this truck fifth gear and either go back to the right lane or keep continuing you so a tip with doing the downshift any kind of downshift is put your hand off the shifter before you do anything so if you know you want to downshift to Ford put your hand on the shifter before you touch your clutch you touch your gas because if you pressing your clutch and then move your hand from the steering wheel to the shifter it's just going to add amount of time which you don't want you want to be ready just to do the maneuver the shifter gasps soft plushy what
