with the clear nails you're going to notice starting at the base and going up towards the tip there's this dark pinkish reddish substance that is the quick so that going up to there is where your quick is so if you take your clippers come in there you want to go right above where that quick is and then you're just going to give a some quick clip you don't want to go all the way down to the quick you want to make sure that you're a little bit above it so that as your dog's running it's not breaking open that quick typical baby girl there's a good girl so again you know just right above for that quick is you can also look at the bottom of the nail as long as it looks white and chalky right there in the center that means you're above the quake if it's starting to look like a little damp spot you know a little pinkish reddish spot there that means that you're right on top of the click so you know be very careful about that because that means you know you're right there at it so you don't want to accidentally click your dog now if you do accidentally click your dog you're going to take just a little pinch of your quick stop and you're going to put that directly on the nail and you're just going to apply really firm pressure for about 20 seconds that's gonna make the bleeding stop now if you do click your dog it's not a big deal just stay calm and confident it does happen you know accidents do happen just make sure you get the quick stop or if you don't have that you know you can use flour baking soda whatever you do have just make sure you use that so it stops bleeding and only hurt your dog for a second though just because it continues to bleed doesn't mean it hurts your dog that long now in case your dog does have black nails the way you would handle a black nail since you obviously can't see the quick if you weigh your clippers flight up against that pop pad whatever part of the nail thats hanging down into your clippers when it slide up against the paw pad you can safely cut without hitting the quick and once you've seen once you get the length of the nail on one now all the other nails on that foot will be the same length you
