Please explain how to tint like a professional - rear quarter glass window ( for beginners )

hey what's up it's showing from climbing window to thing and today I'm going to show you how to prep cut and install order glass window film the first step to prepping a quarter glass is the cleaning outside of the glass we're gonna use a soap soapy water mixture and a microfiber cloth to clean the dirt off the outside the best idea is to wash the car before doing this so there's not as much pollen if it is that type of the year that time of the year or dirt on the outside of the car so it's always a better idea to wash the outside the car then clean the windows with a chamois or a microfiber driving cloth so we didn't wash the car so just gonna use a soapy water mixture and a microfiber if you're only doing this one window I suggest you also clean the surrounding area so that any dust on the car doesn't get into the film as you're installing it now that the outside of the window is clean we want to razorblade the inside and wipe it and make sure there's no contaminants on the inside of the glass now to properly clean the inside of the glass we're going to use a one-inch razor single sided razor blade we have the inside inside window towel and again the same soapy water solution we spray the window I'm just going to take the razor blade and just go over the glass now what this does is it remove any debris that is stuck to the glass and the glue or sticker material anything that's on the window that you don't want in the window film make sure you're using stainless steel blades you don't want to use a carbon blade because it may scratch the glass after you razor blade the window use your inside towel to clean the inside of the glass removing any other debris that may be on the glass while you're doing that you also want to rub the edges around the window to make sure there's no dust or dirt that will fall in onto the glass before you apply the window film alright now that everything is all prepped we're going to lay the film out and I'm going to show you how to cut it with this type of quarter glass I'm using it out of a 20 inch roll today the most common thing that I do is if I put the same percentage on the front door I'll take the top section of that the top corner is big enough to do most quarter glasses if not we if you use a 40 inch roll on the back window the bottom section if you're not using that for a windshield strip you can use the long strip on the bottom the excess material to do both quarter glasses but today we're using additive roll so to apply the rough material you spray the glass and pull out about how much and now what we're going to do if your window film has a nice straight edge in the bottom we're going to line that up exactly to the bottom and match it up with the bottom gasket spray a little bit on the outside so we can squeegee it out and we're going to mount this down to the glass so we can begin cutting now I suggest if you have a lot of extra material on the top cut this off before you start actually trimming the film to exactly fit the window be careful when cutting the top so you don't cut these rubber gaskets on the top of the car it does happen if you don't see them you will cut them right off now the first cut that I make on any quarter glass is always the back edge where this rubber gasket is unless you have a window that the black out area right here is around the whole window you're not going to cut this first you're just going to cut the whole window out in one section I will make a video on at that type of quarter glass in another day when I have a car in like that for today with this car we're going to cut this back gasket first and then we'll cut around the blackout area ensures that okay now when we're cutting this back line I did have a comment on the last video that I posted about having issues when cutting along the gasket that you can't get a straight line this is how you would do it if you were to cut the sides of a roll down window as well you always want to make sure you have a fresh blade so if you have a breakaway blade I recommend highly if you're going to be tinting windows this is what you want to use this is the red dot razor it's the best one that I've found and so when I got most comfortable with so break off the new blade make sure your blades fresh and when you're going to go and cut this back you're going to make sure this extra material isn't sticking to this glass because if it's sticking to something it's going to pull it away from the gasket and you're going to get a gap or a jagged cut along the time you want to pull this away run your finger down and make sure that film is exactly against the gasket now what I like to do is before I even pull my blade out I like to place the razor down into the bottom and then slide my blade out just enough to cut the film and then just drag it up and follow the gasket out now with these types of windows you may get cut a little bit of the rubber but it's going to be a little tiny string and you can pull that right off and it won't damage the vehicle at all so now that we have this whole back corner cut this is a nice straight line there may be a slight light light gap but once you install the film there's going to be enough extra material on the sides to compensate for that light gap so don't worry about that as long as it's just a little hairline gap now for the purpose of this video I place a light behind the quarter glass so if you're just beginning with window tint I suggest you do place a light and if you're using limo tint like I am with this video I also suggest that you use a drop light behind the glass especially when you do in the back window you're always going to need a drop light to see the line as you can see right here with this car there's a blackout area there always is on every car but this one has a direct straight line most quarter glasses will have the dot matrix around the edge which is basically the same thing with this does this no dots you don't have a straight line to follow another tip I want to give you guys is check the inside of the glass before you cut the outside because you want to know how much room you have to install this quarter glass let me show you that real quick with this quarter glass you can see is a very small area for installation maybe a quarter inch of the window is exposed inside the glass the rest is rubber so you have the rubber there if you cut the film too large you will have it bunched up against the rubber and that's not a good way to install the film because it will make it a lot harder than it should be so now that we saw that the installation area is very tight we're going to cut this film as close as we can to the line but still give us a little work area since we do have a quarter inch area to work with you don't have to cut it exactly on the line you can cut it a little bit to the side and it'll give you just enough amount to work with so we still have a fresh blade cutting that one line will not build a blade out unless you're cutting on a rough material the glass is not a rough material so we're going to start from the side and just follow the line all the way around now a good method is to use your hand to cover the area that you're cutting and it will block the light from reflecting off of the film and give you a better view of the line now once you get down to about here you're going to want to switch your cutting angle you're going to come to the other side and start from the bottom and finish your line now when you're cutting the quarter glass you don't want to press hard even though this is a stainless steel blade if you press hard enough with any type of material you will gouge the glass so be extremely careful especially with the quarter glasses they seem to have softer glass and you will leave a cut in the glass so just be extremely careful especially if you chose to go with cutting on the actual car it's a it's not looked very highly upon but if you know how to do it the correct way you won't damage the car and you'll do it nice job alright now we have this quarter glass wall cut out we're going to go and get it ready to be mounted on the inside of the car for final installation what I like to do with this is remove it and put it on put it onto the roll down window next to the quarter glass and do some final trimming if needed I didn't clean this window so let me clean this window really quick so we can apply it on there and do any final trimming okay now that this window is clean we're going to spray a little bit of water and to remove this quarter glass without damaging the edges you could take your gold Teflon card put it on the bottom and just pop the film up and you can lay it right there on your slide down window your roll down window and just mount it in place now as we're looking at this it might be hard to see with the glare on the window but we have very nice corners on this I took my time cutting this the bottom edge is nice from the from the film from the roll and we cut a nice straight line on the back edge and we cut a nice contouring line with the curve on the blackout area so we can leave this piece of film mounted on this glass and let's prep the inside of the quarter glass spray squeegee spray and then install the film okay now to prep this inside glass after it's already been razor blade in white what all we're going to do is take the soapy water solution spray it up nicely now we're going to take our yellow turbo squeegee and start from the top and squeeze your dirt down always wipe it before you go back to the window after squeegee this removes any dirt that is on the blade you don't want that in the middle of the glass once we did that we're going to spray a little bit of water not too much because you're going to have a hard time squeezing the tin out and it's just going to be moving around on you so you just want to spray a little bit and then I'm going to go around to this side now to peel this I usually take the corner and I put it in between my teeth and rub back and forth just very lightly that'll separate the film and then you peel the clear off and that is now that the the tin is mounted to the glass you can very easily peel the clear off spray a slight amount of water on the film and then we'll go to apply it on the inside when you're taking the film off of the exterior of the glass try not to touch too much of the adhesive side so you don't place any dirt on the inside of the tin I'm going to very slowly place it onto the glass try not to touch any rubber gaskets and only glass as you can see the tint is very nicely laid in there you want to check all the edges to make sure there's no light gaps you can see that there's no light gap on this edge I cut a little bit extra on the back side so that it has enough to slide in not every car is capable of doing this some of these gaskets are really tight and it won't allow you to slide the tin in so always check and check your gaskets before you cut the film sometimes you may need to use the easy reach to pull away the bottom gasket to allow the film to lay in once you've positioned the film correctly you want to spray up the window tint a little bit and take caution when you're squeegeeing it use it yellow turbo squeegee and you're going to try to hold it in place you want to put his two fingers on it and holding your palm on the other window and very lightly you can see that the tint is moving right now so very lightly mount it down so you can go harder with a squeegee so these first initial strokes the 10 is going to move a little bit you want to try not to let it move as much as it will and then once you get it mounted down and in the right position press harder with your squeegee strokes evenly we're moving the water bit from between a tenth and the glass and then sometimes you may have an issue with this bottom just stick to easy reach behind the gasket and push it down once the film is all screwed out lightly go over it and dry it off trying not to pull the film from the glass because it is still wet now you can see there is a little blemish here on the top corner and I'll show you guys how to fix that really quick all right now good I got a good angle with the camera so you can see this little spot right here that didn't lay down perfectly this isn't from me biding the corner it actually bunched up on the top a little bit because it was so tight you can see as I push it down with my finger it still lays down very nicely but the best way to fix this is you're going to take your easy reach gold or platinum whichever one you have this tool right here does wonders just make sure it's nuba so it doesn't scratch the glass and we're going to go over it before you use the heat gun we're going to go over it and just push up try to lay down as much as you can with just this tool and sometimes you'll get the film to lay down just fine just with this tool we're using a little heat doesn't work so let's do that of course be cautious when doing this you don't want to know if these gasket so always check out - glasses before you go further than you really need to and sometimes if it's being tough you can put a little heat on the inside and that usually does the trick all right there we go the window film is all laid out very nicely and there are no blemishes in it at all all right guys I hope I covered everything with the quarter glass um I really appreciate you guys watching my videos subscribing and always asking questions I love making
