hi I'm Lou today I'm going to show you how to make a watermelon bassinet here are the ingredients and tools we'll need a watermelon cantaloupe orange blueberries grapes you can get two colors if you want to make it a little more exciting strawberries lime juice honey and here are some wooden skewers that are about twice as long as a toothpick some knives for carving melon baller you don't need these two but it's handy to have an ice-cream scoop and a handheld grater and one pacifier we don't want our fruit bowl rolling around so turn it over find the bottom which is usually has a light spot on it and cut a flat spot right across the bottom now at about one third of the way from one end of the melon start marking a line and cutting into the melon all the way down on both sides to about the height of a coffee cup and straight across and then take that coffee cup and mark the melon all the way around at the same height and go all the way around so that you meet the other cut line on the other side and we're going to take this piece out now start carving balls out of your melon by pushing in the melon baller and twisting once you have all your melon balls out you can use a spoon or this ice-cream scoop to clean out the inside of the watermelon it's hard to get a perfect edge with an ice cream scoop so when you're done take a knife and just cut a nice clean edge all the way around the outside next wash your cantaloupe thoroughly and cut it in half tall ways scoop the seeds out of both sides now take the nicest-looking half and carefully peel it with a knife this is going to be the baby's face so we want to make it as smooth as possible if you have a handheld grater this is a perfect way to smooth out the baby's face if you want it really super smooth you can hit it with a pot scrubbing sponge after the grater set the baby face aside and ball the other half of the melon clean and cut all your strawberries in half also pick off and wash a bunch of grapes now for the baby's face cut a grape in half and toothpick to eyes in place use half a watermelon ball for the nose and half melon balls for ears now finally we want to put the pacifier in place just cut a little hole for the mouth and stick the pacifier in put some melon balls in the back of the melon to prop up the head and then fill the front with the rest of your fruit now we need to slice four wheels to go around the outside of the bassinet pin your wheels in place with the skewers and hold them in place with a grape and there's the finished bassinet you can pour over a mixture of honey and lime juice as a sauce for the fruit thank you for watching and good luck with your bassinet you
