hi class it's mrs. Alba here shown here to show you how to thread a needle and to sew your pillow closed using a slip stitch alright so I threaded my needle I got two arms lengths worth the thread threaded it through and I met both of the tails at the end so we see both tails here so now I'm going to take those two tails between my thumb and my index finger and I'm gonna wrap the thread around my index finger one time just like that and then I'm gonna slowly with my thumb and index finger roll the thread between my fingers until it forms a ball once you feel the ball between your thumb and your index finger you're just gonna pull tightly to the left and then you have a knot just like that once you have it or not you're ready to sell your pillow closed so I'm going to take my pillow here and see how it is folded under so I have my seam allowance I don't have the raw edges showing that's what you need to do when you pin it close so right now it looks like an open mouth but when we pin it closed its gonna look like two pairs of lips see it's talking to you alright so I'm going to go ahead and put the pin through I'll usually just go through the bottom and come out the top and then go back through the bottom just to secure it in place can't you the same thing with this opening three at the bottom to the top thank you the book all right so now we're ready to sew so I'm gonna take my needle I'm gonna start on the left side first I'm gonna take the needle and I'm gonna put it through the very top lip closest to the end of the seam so I'm gonna push that through and see my little knot there I'm just gonna make sure that's tucked under so we won't see that as I continue to sell once you have it through the top lip you're gonna go down to the bottom lip right below it and put your needle through about 1/4 of the way 1/4 of an inch through that bottom lip then you're just gonna pull it through like so and now you're gonna do the same thing through the top lip I'm gonna come back up to the top lip I'm gonna go over about 1/4 1/4 of an inch just pull the thread together and now I'm just gonna continue to go back to the bottom lip now so we're just alternating between the lips just grabbing right close to the to the lip as we can 1/4 of an inch through and now I'm gonna go back up to the top lip just above where I came out at the bottom I'm gonna go over about 1/4 of an inch pull it through so see how I sewed just this area here and you could barely see my stitches even though they're different color so that's why we use a slip stitch because it hides the stitch underneath so when once I we're done with our pillow it's really not gonna show it's gonna look like it was all hand all sewn on the machine all right and now just to go over it one more time I just came out of the top lip so now I'm gonna go directly below 1/4 of an inch over on the bottom lip so just grab the bottom lip there for about 1/4 of an inch and now that I came out at the bottom I'm gonna go back up to the top and grab 1/4 of an inch of the top lip just like that I'm going to keep going all the way down until I hit the end
