do you need to boost your calories well I've got the shake for you I'm Susan Bowerman registered dietician and you know sometimes I talk to people who need to gain weight they need to boost their calories and they struggle just as much as those people who are trying to lose and one of the things I often recommend to them is a shake because you can add some healthy high-calorie items to it so today I'm going to show you how to make a higher calorie shake using Herbalife formula 1 chocolate we're going to start making our shake just like we always do I'm going to start with my 8 ounces 250 milliliters of low-fat milk I'm going to use the chocolate flavor you can use any flavor you want but for this particular shake I thought it might blend nicely when you see what else I'm going to add I already shook up my canister and I'm gonna put in 2 scoops of my herbal life formula 1 chocolate the next thing I'm going to add is some rolled oats I'm using a third of a cup about 25 grams of instant rolled oats now let me caution you about this if you're gonna put oatmeal into your shake don't get the kind that takes a long time to cook or it's just gonna get lumpy and grainy so this is the one minute instant oatmeal I'm gonna put that in what this is going to do it's gonna thicken it it's going to add about a hundred and ten additional calories and it's adding some nice soluble fiber to my shake the other thing that I'm going to add to my shake is I'm going to add some peanut butter I'm going to put in about a tablespoon you can use other nut butters if you want to almond butters really good pistachio is really good I'm putting about a tablespoon of nut butter in there that's going to add another hundred calories to my shake and then lastly I'm just gonna throw a whole banana in there and we're gonna go ahead and blend this up when this is all done this shake is going to have a little over 500 calories and that is one thick shake that texture that you're seeing there that's that water soluble fiber that you're getting from the oats so let's see how this tastes I'm not gonna drink the whole thing because I don't need to boost my calories but I could this is really delicious it's peanut butter its chocolate the banana adds some nice thick texture to it I think if you need to boost your calories this might be the shake for you you
