hi I'm Madeline from chip shop style and in this video I want to show you how you can simply clean your gold-plated magnet jewelry in particular I'm going to be showing you how to clean this bangle here this is from our current collection you'll find it in a catalog or on our webshop item number three 176 now this particular bangle is made from a high quality stainless steel and is iron plated gold and has these polished end pieces they have the magnets there's one either side behind there now it's got a sort of like mesh like finish which although is solid does have a bit of flex in it so you can widen the opening there to slip it over your rest it makes it very very comfortable but with the mesh finish it creates shadow so it's not too over-the-top and bling like although in natural daylight and under artificial light it really does Sparkle it's very elegant and sophisticated it looks absolutely stunning with casual wear but also if you want to dress up a bit it's just such a nice style and nice finish now I have one of the bangles here this is from a client she bought this from me four or five months ago and she wears it every single day now over that time it's actually started to collect quite a bit of dirt in between the mesh finish hair so it's beginning to look a little bit dull and a little bit of it looks darker than what it was when she first got it so what I'm gonna do is show you how we can clean this naturally so we're not going to use any harsh chemicals we're not going to use anything abrasive that's gonna rub off the gold plating so all we need for that is a lemon which we're going to use the juice of and dilute that with some water and we have a soft bristled brush okay say we have everything ready what I've done is juice to the other half of this lemon into this dish here and I've added some water so now I'm going to dip the bangle inside just let the lemon juice and water get inside there and then I'm just going to use this brush and I'm just going to very gently brush it and hopefully this will get inside and clean out any of the dirt and mark this collected in there now you find with jewelry doesn't matter how clean and hygienic you are it will attract dirt just from everyday dust and dirt gets in there dead skin cells all sorts unfortunately no matter how clean you are you can't help it you can use sorry you can wear your jewelry in the shower that's not a problem but you want to make sure that it dries thoroughly afterwards because if it's not drying then that water stays inside and eventually it will start to go a bit yucky and that's why this is actually looking a little bit black now where I'm gently rubbing this I can always see a difference you're probably not going to see it so much it's probably very difficult to see so that's the side that I've just cleaned a little bit of yeah probably look better when it's finished so I'm just gonna keep doing this is gonna take me a little while because like said I'm want to do it nice and gently one tip probably would be to strain the lemon juice water because as loads of bits of lemon in here and we don't want to get them the actual fleshy bits from the lemon core inside the jewelry but having said that it means it's gonna smell absolutely lovely well when my client gets it back so we're gonna keep doing this like I said this is going to take me I'm probably going to spend 10 15 minutes doing this to make sure it looks wonderful then I'm going to go rinse it with some fresh water and then make sure it's dried thoroughly that's the important bit is make sure that you dry it really well afterwards we will be back in a moment okay so all done now took me about ten minutes of gently rubbing it with brush and also kept putting back in the solution letting it sit there for a moment and then giving it another rub and then I've rinsed it under the tap just to get all the lemon juice in the water solution off and also all the little bits of lemon flesh for some reason I ended up with lemon in my hair as well I guess from the brush just flicking up it kind of went everywhere so I would recommend that if you're gonna do it do it over the sink which is probably where you keep your toothbrushes anyway in the bathroom or in the kitchen wherever just to be warned it can be a little bit messy you can also use there are products available for cleaning gold jewelry so feel free to use those as well like I said I wanted to show you something that's natural nor abrasive and it's not harsh that's going to take off the gold plating you can also get these ultrasonic baths I don't know if you've seen them I know they were a rage for a little while and literally you just put it in water in this ultrasonics thing and it cleans it somehow it's you know it's pretty cool also that's another you know non harsh way of cleaning your gold jewelry as well and that would probably great because that would like really penetrate and get all the dirt out but I can certainly see a difference I've taken before and after photos it's not too easy to see but hopefully when I put them side by side you will be able to see the difference it come up a bit closer okay so it's definitely looking cleaner very beautiful you see it's got that flex there so we can open it and the little magnets in here as well okay so that's done
