hi I'm Josh felt with launched our handgun today I'm going to talk to you about how to load and unload a handgun properly okay the first thing you want to do is pick up the handgun with your dominant hand too many people will they'll pick up a gun with their non-dominant hand take the magazine in their dominant hand slide it up in there once the handguns the magazines up in there they'll rack the slide allow the round to be chambered and then swap the gun over anytime I swap the gun from left to right that's room for things to go bad so that's what I don't want to do so I'm going to pick the handgun up in my dominant hand and leave it in my dominant hand take the magazine and mind on down in hand take my index finger and make sure the rounds are seated properly if the rounds of stuck out and they're not seated properly it may not go into the handgun properly so I take that index finger and seat that round down taking that magazine feeling it up in the magazine well and slamming it up in there I want to ensure that I don't have body parts or anything else in the way when I slam it up in there to make sure that the magazine is seated properly once that magazine is up in place there's two techniques I use to allow that slide to go forward first technique is to hit this slide really slide lock it's called different things from different manufacturers all does the same thing basically I oh I do is pushed out with my dominant thumb and that will allow the round to go in there that is one technique the other technique take that magazine slam it up in there grab the slide and this it falls into your gross motor skills it's an easier movement under the adrenaline dump of a gunfight grab the back of that slide pull it and then let that slide go that round will then chamber to clear the handgun the first thing I'm gonna need to do is hit the magazine release the way I'm gonna do that is take my dominant thumb push the magazine release inward and let it come into my hand don't let it drop in your hand and get lucky that it catches because sometimes won't catch it and you'll have magazine on the ground that magazine is placed somewhere pocket table whatever then the way I'm going to clean the gun is simply by pulling the slide to the rear violently and letting that round come out don't do one of those fancy Hollywood things where I catch you in midair or whatever else I'm not going to be paying attention one of these times and things can get bad for me a lot of people what they like to do is to clear it they'll put their hand over the ejection port and then just simply catch it well once again things can go bad for you one of these times and that gun could negligently discharge fire my hands near the ejection port things don't go that well let it follow the ground then pick it up later 20 some sense is not worth digits it's not worth body parts what I don't want to do on clearing the gun is I don't want to do things backwards and doing things backwards is pulling the slide the rear inspecting not inspecting properly thinking the round just went out then allowing the slide to go forward and then dropping the magazine the reason we take the magazine out of the handgun first is to get rid of the ability for new rounds to go into that chamber they're still rounds up in there I can do I can pull the slide the rear until I get all those rounds out of there first and always drop the magazine pull the slide the rear physically inspect visually looking in that matte magazine well make sure there's no rounds in there physically looking down that chamber it's clear simply gunned down too many people have old bad habits up they'll clear the gun make sure it's clear a loud slide to go forward and then pull the trigger it'll take one time and things will not go properly for you you won't be paying attention and things will get very loud for you leave the slide lock you never place your finger on the trigger and tell your one to destroy whatever that guns pointed at
