hi guys Kirk family here with Kirk Giordano
plastering, today we're going to show you how to eat pizza we're exhausted right now we've
already done most of this house anyway my baby was kind enough, thank you sweetie to bring
us pizza My daughter Madedleine is leaving for Spain in another day so we want to get
her in one last one before she hits the road, Lulie here you and and these guys here anyway
we're going to show you how to do a scratch and brown on this you'll love it I have all
five of my kids here so plus my brother Lou, this is a small house we're working on it
everybody helps everybody if there's not enough room to plaster for a couple guys making
Wilbur oh they can take Sam from the front of the truck bring it to the back they could set
scaffold they could float hard rubber float they can do all kinds of stuff we're killing time
right here while Jason gets that all set up so we're just playing some tic-tac-toe in this mud
that's getting really stiff you did not just do that anyway take care count we're going to get
started guys we're going to show you how how to work with I'd rather have two extra guys than
not enough guys well why we're doing this is because Madeline's leaving Madeline my daughter
my youngest daughter is leaving she's going to Spain in two days she's been in Spain for one year
we did a video last week where she was helping us spread a gluey like substance on a retaining wall
and because she hasn't plastered in a year uh at the end of the day she was using both hands and
putting it on use-it-or-lose-it your arms right here your forearms and your wrists really start
to get hot after about fifteen minutes when you first learning this trade under a year it takes
about a year to get all that strength going but anyway Jason and I are going to start topping
out these guys they're all over the place we got another camera set up to show you guys go
ahead start spreading start spreading it in quit messing around but anyway Madeline's going back to
Spain she's in Spain teaching English waiting for her degree she's doing marine biology she wants
to aw go in the oceans and things like that she actually working into the San Francisco aquarium
feeding sharks and all that stuff for years now anyhow we're just sending her off she says dad is
there one last day and so today is that last day Jay and I are going to get busy because we've been
messing around setting stuff up because when you do a video you actually jack up your your whole
procedure of how to get started when we do plaster but nothing we can't handle because I got all the
manpower or what the fella here says you don't have manpower you have staff power because I have
my two daughters working here also so Jay and I are going to get started we're going to start from
the top work our way down these guys are going to get here Jay and I are going to diary behind
them and this is just a scratching Braun that we're doing right now my other daughter Lily she's
around here somewhere you'll see her soon enough All right, how many experienced stucco guys watch
this and say, hey, those guys are going out of sync? We are not following the Sun. We're not
going right to the left. We're going every which way just as a goodbye type thing for my daughter
Madeleine and Lulie is over here spreading, to all you girls who ake if they do can
we plaster absolutely these guys been plastering and never worry about how filthy
you get guys because this is a dirty trade, so we get right back to it, A little tiny bit
more practice, and when you have extra guys, the idea is everybody helps each other,
everybody it's a teamwork effort, generally how I got Dan and Karl on the
other side. They're cleaning up floating. Jay and I can spread and darby because
the darbying does take some practice too. Anyway ah, we're hustling because we're about to
take lunch, and we got a pizza on the way, so I'll show you one more thing, guys excuse me, sweetie
okay Lulie, actually has a full-time job besides this and goes to school full-time it works for me
full-time how do you do that baby? It's, "magic" but you got more energy than me, sweetie because
I don't have that kind of magic left. What I'm doing guys is is getting these tops because
sometimes with the same day back-to-back system the tops too kind of wanna fall down that we put
it right back up magic huh sweetie yeah that when you're working full-time going to school full
time then doing this that'll beat you up guys all right guys another thing the camera doesn't
show is these windows have set out inch and a half should only be 7 H so we're improvising this
whole area around we were head specially the back wall a lot of improvising to bring it out just to
inch and a half and then feather it in to 7 days but nothing we can handle all right guys let me
show you this gets complicated especially if you have an extra guy which is or to it which is good
come on by here we got a lot of things going on here but as we started this wall now this wall
is it ready a lot of people okay are you ready we're ready okay so now we start floating this why
do we float it before the wall gets too hard or turns white because right now guess what anybody
know why I'm floating it right now because if I I could allow this to get hardened a little bit but
what happens if it gets too hard guys instead of using skill which I'm using skill right now I'd
only have to look at this wall all I'm doing is compacting it getting the lines out because we're
doing a fine float finish and when this cured so because the wall right now is just right I mean
this is a just right wall I can float it and I'm using skill I'm not using muscle because I got
to conserve my strength because we have a whole house to do so you see that guys you don't really
have to look at it but you got to know your float and I can do this because I've been doing it for
30 years so I'm going to do the whole wall just like this it's called floating it hard rubber
floating it yo your right arm gets tired switch to your left guys there's no such thing as
a one-handed plaster you ladies to one arm gets tired switch when it starts to burn that
means hey switch that hand you see that this is compressing it hard rubber floating it compresses
it it opens it allows it to breathe less likely to hairline crack come on through Dan come on come
on through I'm getting out your way getting out your way come on through relax we're having fun
we're having fun we're having fun here this is I can't believe they pay me to do this stuff which
is fun for me okay guys we have about 40 minutes left all before the Sun Goes Down so we're going
to put a conclusion on this right now let me leave this here for a second and all right guys say
goodbye because this video is ending right now anyway guys this is uh this Chuck here it's got
love and foot bed I could put two to three yards here easily with cement plus all the scaffold.
Each yard is 2,000 pounds or 2,400 pounds if you want to be right on the money as a ton is
2,000 yards is 2,400 pounds. Okay, I filled this up three times. It should only take one and
a half, but the window frames are off. They're about an inch and a half to twosome areas, and it
just you got to no feathering guys we're making it work anyway let's go this way there's tied three
truckloads that's a lot of stucco alright, guys. I'm going to show you something when we use this
particular product we leave the bags here because inspectors sometimes want to see what we're
using notice this wall is is all day with this particular product I've been hosing this down yeah
we're go downwind of me Jason okay so we take the water we hose it down just yes it's dry guys it's
dry this is a quick-setting cement obviously you can't do two coats if it wasn't anything on the
vents you can just saturate it on the windows saturated over here back wall same deal guys same
deals you go ahead and hit it hit it with water throughout the day I can't show you guys how to do
this you guys got to learn it but hydration is a big part of it over here I just we're still got
to clean up but not certain how much the camera will show because it is getting dark anyway this
is the other side we're just going to clean up the front anyway my name is Kirk Jason on the camera
