Today we will see how to prepare betel leaf rasam in a different way. I am taking 2 betel leaves from my home garden These leaves are very good for cold and cough and also for digestion Note down the listed ingredients Heat pan and add Ghee -1 Tspn Cinnamon stick - 2 Small onion - 4 Garlic Cloves - 3 Coriander Seeds -1 Tspn Pepper Corns - 1/2 Tspn Cumin Seeds - 1/2 Tspn Saute Well Saute until onion turns golden brown Remove the top portion of the leaf and make it into small pieces Switch off the stove Then add betel leaves. Always add betel leaves at the end. Saute them gently. Betel leaves and Cinnamon are good for health. That's why we call it Herbal Rasam. Let it cools down Transfer them to mixer for grinding Add little water while grinding to get a coarse paste. Extract tamarind juice from gooseberry sized tamarind. Add Tomato Turmeric Powder - 1/4 Tspn Salt - 1 Tspn Mix them with hand Add Oil - 1/2 Tspn Mustard seeds - 1/4 Tspn Dried red chilli - 2 Curry Leaves Hing - a pinch Saute well Pour tamarind extract to it Add betel leaf ground paste to it Stir well so that it will get mixed evenly If you like Betel leaf smell, add betel leaf ground paste after Tamarind extract is boiled (at the end) If you don't like Betel leaf smell, add betel leaf ground paste to Tamarind extract and allow them to boil (like how I did) Close the lid Let it to boil until it starts bubbling. Don't let it to over boil as the medicinal value of betel leaf will be lost Switch off the stove Garnish with coriander leaves Herbal Rasam with super aroma is ready Close the lid to maintain its aroma.
