hey everyone welcome back I know I've been getting a lot of messages about what to eat after gastric sleeve surgery and bariatric surgery in general while no means in my own expert only ten weeks out I felt like a video was due and that it would help to share kind of what has helped me and what I you know what's helped me on this journey so I wanted to share just kind of the things that I've been eating and things that have helped me through this journey to heal my stomach and and deal with food addiction to any binge eating so I've shared in a post below that I have struggled in the past with binge eating and food addiction so a lot of this journey has been emotional and mental so for sure and so one of the things I did in the beginning that I'm you know I was wasn't really sure what I was doing after surgery and just figuring everything out this I bought a lot of food just for me and bought separate food for my family and I'm here to tell you you don't have to do that you don't have to spend a ton of money on foods for for you for this there's so many options out there and things that you can modify for your family because that was hard for me cooking for my family but not eating myself and that is super frustrating and nothing's worse than making food for people that you can't eat and it's not that you don't want to eat it you can't eat it there's a big difference so luckily I'm past that part and I'm eating regularly now and I do want to tell you one thing a lot of people tell me oh well you can't eat these things anymore so you're doing good wrong I can eat everything now I have found that my body can handle anything and that is scary because I could go back into food addiction and binge eating very easily so that's why being super intentional with my food and my eating and just mentally declaring and preparing myself for for success is so key because I really could go eat Girl Scout cookies right now I could go eat a ton of things and I probably wouldn't get sick I probably wouldn't feel very good as most people don't after eating those things but I could eat them so if you think you know oh you do gastric sleeve and then you just can't eat like that you can't even like that and it's definitely a tool guys gastric sleeve was not a I didn't go and have all the fat sucked out of me and I'm magically healed it's I think it begins after surgery to be honest I think the work has just begun I think mentally you have to really transform the way you think the way you eat the way you live so many different things and it's hard when you have a family and they eat normal even though they eat all the things that you're probably not going to eat anymore and you have to kind of be okay with that because I remember they would go get fast food and I would be mad like you guys I can't even eat I'm on a liquid diet and you're eating this in front of me I would be so mad and it's not their fault they're not on this journey with you know they're not doing this with me they're not me they are more respectful now with some things but you know for the most part you know this is me I made this decision and so I have to be responsible for what I put in my mouth and what I eat so um one of the things I'm doing is I'm doing keto keto diet um ketogenic diet ketosis all these words it's just a high fat moderate protein low carb diet low sugar it's perfect for a bariatric patient I don't follow it to a tee I know I'll get a little criticism for that and that's okay you got to do it works for you I got to do it works for me um I do eat a little bit of carbs but I keep it pretty minimal I just love healthy foods in general I love eating clean I love eating nourishing foods I feel good when I eat that way so if I eat something that's on the not on the keto list I don't beat myself up before it you know I just enjoy it and move on I think that's a healthy way to look at food at this point if you eat terrible one day you know make the next three meals amazing and eat healthy I'm not even gonna go there I have too much food issues to beat myself up anymore point its self-love or nothing basically I avoid all carbs except veggies and nuts for the most part I don't eat processed carbs pasta rice starches sugar candy soda sugar drinks that's another thing I gave up soda I gave up soda five years ago you guys I used to be I used to be a major soda addict I I would like drink like six to eight cans a day it was expensive it was really bad for me and I am so grateful that it's been five years you guys I just do not like soda anymore and I used to live for soda like gas-station sodas like you get the big you know I used to think that was life I mean fast food in a soda delicious and I don't even think like that anymore in fact if I did go have fast food which there's very few fast food places I would even eat anymore I would just get tea or sometimes lemonade or water I shrink a ton of water I always have a jar of water but if that's one thing too if you're a soda drinker I'll really think about not being a soda drinker anymore I know it's hard guys I'm not even gonna begin to sit here and pretend like that is even easy coming off of that was like coming off of a drug I mean it took me like 30 to 45 days to really get past it and it was total addiction it's amazing how soda is an addiction it really is so if you are interested in a video for that comment down below I do have some tips that helped me get through that eating meats fish eggs cheeses avocado macadamia nuts butter healthy oils green leafy veggies I'm a huge green leafy veggies and I always have a salad every day my salads are very small now but I fill them with veggies and you know like a Green Goddess dressing from Trader Joe's or I'll just make my own I just I love salads I think they have a lot of good protein and iron in them really love them cauliflower rice you guys I hate cauliflower like I want to bury it it's disgusting like I think it looks like greens I am NOT a cauliflower friend call flower and I aren't friends put it that way but there is a rice blend from Trader Joe's that only has 50 calories a serving it's a like a stir-fry cauliflower rice and I had my husband buy 10 bags a bit less time he went I'm not even kidding with you like I will eat that I don't it tastes good and I put coconut aminos on it some very good but I will not eat cauliflower I try to call Clara Pizza and it was an abomination I was like this isn't a bomb this what did I do to my cheese and sauce what am i cheese and sauce do to deserve this like cauliflower pizza was an abomination to me I was like I would rather eat real pizza and be fat beneath this I know it's a little extreme but I am NOT a fan of cauliflower but I will eat cauliflower rice apparently it's pretty good I just tell myself it's not cauliflower and I'm not a picky eater by any means I'll eat almost everything to say it's called flour and cook carrots everything else Holly just those two things are just disgusting to me Kito fruits I love blueberries blackberries cantaloupe grapefruit raspberries strawberries from watermelon Winston season tastes gross now but in the summer you can go crazy on that those are keto friendly fruits those are just some things that I've been doing I keep berries in the fridge washed and ready I try to make what I do is I keep a list in my planner of everything I can eat that I have on hand and that you know sometimes I get really hungry and really busy and I make food for everyone else and then I think oh what am I gonna make for me and then I have no idea at that point because I'm like past the point of hungry I'm hangry so I always keep a list so I can like plan mentally say okay it's you know whatever time I'm gonna make a salad in a little bit because one thing they did with surgery is they take out a gland in your stomach that says you're hungry well I'm never hungry anymore so until I get to the point where there's nothing in my stomach and it hurts and so I don't like to do that I really like to eat regularly and healthy so I'm not grabbing a cracker or something that isn't really gonna give me any nourishment and you don't grab like veggies and hummus or I love guac oh my gosh I keep those little single gwak's in there and like these Parmesan crisp chips that are keto friendly and I'll eat those I just I have a list going of what I have and then I also when I make food for my family I just try to make sure that whatever I'm making them I can modify that for me or I can make something really quick on the side and so it's worked out for me and kept our grocery budget low I will link this video I did on on how our grocery budget budget budget was over twelve hundred dollars last month yeah we're not doing that again um I think I just bought way too much crap so we're not doing that again and I am keeping our grocery budget in check I'm eating with my family and just modifying if I need to I'm not gonna go out and buy a ton of stuff I don't think I don't believe in having to spend a ton of money to get healthy I think you should be able to eat keto I'm not here to tell you to take a supplement from a company or anything I am Telling You eat keto eat nourishing foods go in your grocery store and just buy what you know will fuel you and make you feel good that's what I think it should be it shouldn't be I think you should buy this meal service or I think no it can be so simple it can be Aldi at Walmart Dillon's Kroger wherever you shop simple it could be so so they figured it out and then one my daughter FaceTime my sister and she saw me in the background and I'm like well that jigs up because now she can see I just lost like sixty two pounds so I
