a good way of tuning the bass guitar is by using the tuner there'll be situations where you will not have a tuna and it's good to learn this stuff anyway because it will just help you in the long run trust me okay so that rely on the tuna a tune is good you plug it in each into it pretty simple okay there are other methods of tuning that you okay so we're gonna go through those today all right okay so firstly go to my website don't based on that unknown based on it you will see a tuna okay and then you're going to play your corresponding notes to the corresponding notes be a DG on the tuna simple than that okay you want the notes to be exactly the same nose okay then this is how you do it first of all you go to take an e for example but now let's take a G okay this G is the g string this string here okay take this one out but that's slightly out yet and if you'll notice sliding that's because it's slightly out but closer you get to your nope listen warbles okay and she's in aa you know okay I can go then go ahead and do the fifth fret method okay and how to do that is I like this we know the ease into because we tuned it to look at Tsarist over there not like he's in Chief's he never goes out of tune okay so I go to the fifth fret on the e-string one site okay now that different on the E string has to be isn't a obviously start okay doesn't know you know yeah the fifth fret on the E string this is an iced drink coincidentally so they're going to sound the same there can be a second same note okay so if they're not we have to make them safe example tuning the eighth the a string we know this notes in tune we'll know the D string sniffing into right okay we take exactly the same example for the next string we're going to tune the D string so we go to the fifth fret on the a string which is the D note fifth fret on the a string we push down okay and then we bring out the Dean they have to sound the same as come right out on the D no just give you an X of the D string to give you an example all right open which is a G okay the g string has to sound like the fifth fret on the D string cause we know the fifth fret on the D string is in G all right atchoo g string up to the fifth fret second same sound as the fifth fret on the D string sounds confused this is top finger not easier when there's people just front of you in it's a real time lesson it's not on the internet but however we're going to get through this that is really simple I might really complicated it if I did I apologize and next we're going to come to tune in with harmonics okay which gives you a better and more precise way of tuning general harmonics are there's a link like right there it's gonna be down there somewhere if you're watching this on YouTube on what book and then you can figure out harmonics up okay but just to quickly real iterally basically we're going to go to the fret on the e-string these little bit of metal on this side okay little I think I'd ever get horny I can't go into that anymore if you want to go over there and check out at this and it's a Gooden okay so in this instance we're gonna go to the fifth fret on the e-string we're gonna put our finger over this harmonic here which is this side for the bass melody sides lastly I'm going to get that note okay then we'll go to the a string we're gonna do a second same thing on the seventh fret okay they should sound the same feel for me guys okay cool so yeah okay fifth fret on the E string seventh fret on the a string two harmonics I'm gonna go down to the fifth fret on the D string and seventh fret on the g string can hear the warble from hell it's a very good example of the wall but actually they're all in tune so that's it that's basically it we are now in standard tuning okay II can do it by using any tuner on the internet we can use a tuner because my website user to know you can tune to another instrument that's pretty much it it's a skill that comes in time and it's cool it's a skill that takes time to do to master as well hmm but you'll get it okay another little tip is if you can't hear the notes properly that you're trying to correspond to take your base off a little bit because sometimes notes get wrapped up in a warm round bass sound put loads of treble on okay because then those notes of you gotta cut through a little bit more cool okay let us take a look inside you dropped rooms okay which are used in metal metal and mostly used in metal okay however we play on the e-string because it gives us a lower lower sound and that's why it's used so much in metal and things like that good sound that is yeah okay there so we have that method we used we returned the E string down to a D by using V D leave that there right kind of tune back up to you that was one method of dropping your d another method would be just to find another D on the fretboard okay and then do exactly the same thing in that instance we drop the we used the D string okay so how about we find another D okay there's a deep on the a string right there on the fifth fret let's drop the e down to that D okay simple as that guys it really is you can get these things my friends have got these things he's in a race against Machine tribute band and it has this thing on his up here and he clicks it boom and it takes you straight down to the D that's cool things like that but some people I mean what I used to find us I've really needed to learn how to drop the D quickly because when I was kicking loads some songs were in D and some songs weren't in because every like okay it really is as quick as that and you know um it would probably be rare that I'd have a whole set list that was just drop D you know or just learn to transpose everything as well but you're always going to get a heavier age you okay so we're going to look at it's very very close cousin now which is just dropping down half a step so to drop these used in metals and you know things like that the dropping down half a step is used was used a lot in the 90s in grunge and stuff like that anyway dropping down for first step okay we take a note first of all let's look at a little bit of theory a whole step all right it's all in my major scale video which I'll put a link on below yeah whole step whole step cause they're post it post it so therefore half step threat to fret okay so if you say coconut bread that's a half a step up in this instance okay so we take this eat here so in either be fostered like go half a step down from there where would I go down okay what's go half a step up oh okay so if we were going to take off each string and tune it half a step down okay like Alice in Chains and Belgium loads of bands like that Soundgarden's used to do okay I can take the e right there okay on the a string you could go half step down right there we're using the a string because we don't want to use the one in the e string because that's the string would be tuning it's only going to confuse us okay to the e I've split down spread that so I'm going to tune to that node so now I'm half a step down body is now half a step down okay I used in grungees and things like that and musics like that okay and that is pretty much it for tuning there's nothing I can really be creative about here's nothing there's no ideas I can I've given up giving you the tools has loads of stuff on the internet on how to do it it's a coaster just getting down and learning how to do it yourself and training your ear to do it there's no real shortcuts with this one at all it's a very
