Please explain how to install a safety grab bar with the world's strongest fastener

hi everybody I'm Leah of CJ and drill now maybe you're wondering Liam what is that in your hand well this guy here this is a safety grab barn actually today's video has to do with just this Leicester elm one of our subscribers he wrote and he said Leanne listen I gotta install one of these things can you show me how to do it and that's what we're doing today we're installing one of these guys so this is our grab bar here but I want to draw something to your attention now check this out it says mounting hardware included forget that forget all about that because what we want to do is we want to look above this little label here - this right here what it says is it says it's wing it's compatible studless installation world's strongest fastener supports up to 600 pounds in drywall and tile so let me tell you why wing it's is a great way to go okay and I want to tell you right off the bat wing it's isn't paying me anything to say this I just believe in this product and I want to tell you about it okay so here's the thing it's a studless install that means you're you're not looking for wood behind the wall whether it's ceramic or plaster or drywall you don't have to worry about hitting a stud to support the safety grab bar the wing it's do it so this is what the fastener looks like and what I like about the fasteners other than the weight that it can support is that the fasteners have stainless steel screws so it's safe to use it in a moist environment where there's gonna be a lot of water because people tend to use these in their bathrooms so we don't have to worry about our fasteners rusting out so the next thing is the wing it's Apache 200 let me take this out of the container this is the Apache 200 industrial carbide drill bit that's what we've got here and it's perfect for boring holes the size of the wing it fastener what I really like about it is it doesn't matter if your wall is drywall or plaster and check this out ceramic tile it will cut through it like butter so I just want to make certain that I point that out because today we're going to install our grab bar near the commode but if you need to install it in a shower that's got ceramic tile you can use this and not worry about whether or not it's gonna cut through that tile it will so this is where I'm gonna place the grab bar right here and what I want to say is we're working in a really tight area and I don't have very much wall space now I'm gonna use an 18-inch grab bar normally you would use a grab bar a lot longer now I've determined the height of my grab bar now all I have to do is strike a level line and that's why I'm using a level here I'm just going to strike a line because I want to make certain that when I put my grab bar up at least the bar itself is level so I've got my line struck here okay now remember I said that this was going to be a studless install okay and so the studs that run vertically that would behind the wall we're not concerned with that other then we want to make certain that we don't strike a stud because I want to show you how to install without tapping into those studs now I'm gonna mark my hole locations let's just do like this here I'm on that level line then do the same thing on the other side so I'll know where to drill now keep in mind that this is studless and I've already checked to make certain that there are no studs behind where I'm gonna place that fastener so I'm using a battery-operated drill okay there's that Apache 200 right and I'm gonna place it right on my mark that's my mark so that's where I'm gonna drill my hole make sure in your work safety glasses when you do this because you know drywall this is drywall it's going to throw up a lot of that's my first hole so now it comes time to install or wing it now what I have to do is I have to put it together the way you do this is you take the faceplate and you insert it here now it takes a little bit of force there we go it's in there all right say but I'm gonna have to extend it now to its full length its extended and now I'm just gonna insert it in the hole now what I'm gonna have to do is I'm gonna have to collapse it and insert it but I have to tell you it takes a little bit of force to compress it to compress that wing it enough to insert it into the hole so let me give it all I've got here there we go so you want this wing it here okay you want that flush with the wall then we're going to take this faceplate and push it in push it beyond the drywall there we go it's in place now the faceplate now is flush with the wall so I've drawn a second hole beneath the first one because I want to have two wing it's per side I want that grab bar to have some real grab to it and insert there we go I need to push that a little more flush [Applause] then I gotta push it in okay okay so I'm done I didn't saw both now I just have to install the other two on the other side and now I'm just gonna screw it in but what's gonna happen is as I screw this in the wing it is going to open up and grab hold to the back of the drywall there it is so now I'm going to just get the bottom here there we go that's it now that both are secured I'm going to attach the other side now I'm going to take my sketching and snap that into place there we go it's nice and solid that that can really carry a lot of weight now there is a little bit of the way it show in there but I'll just touch that up with paint later there we go our grab bar is pretty dog gone sturdy very happy now make certain that I place a link in the description below the video to the wing it's and the patch e200 so you can check it out for yourself this is Leah say you can do this see you next time
