hey guys in today's video I'm gonna share with you all on how to make this moist decadent black velvet cake I coated it with some of the cake crumbs I took off the cake itself and topped it with a dark chocolate buttercream frosting so if you guys want to see how I make this cake keep watching okay guys I was off doing something else trying to get what I needed on my table here before I got started but in my bowl here I have face sticks of butter I have my sugar I have my eggs but I have my hand mixer as well so we're gonna go ahead and get everything mixed up here and we're gonna beat what that vinegar is gonna do it's going to interact with the baking soda that's in here and gonna pretty much help reven escape okay so they're both gonna work hand in hand so we're gonna go ahead and just beat this again until it is creamy and smooth so now I'm going in with the vanilla extract and I'm going in with about a tablespoon or so of that and we're gonna go ahead and get that incorporated as well and for those of you that are new to my channel the ones that are been here you guys already know if I don't name an ingredient that I'm my recipe you guys can't find this full recipe at a link you will find down in the description box so now here are my dry ingredients I'm using black cocoa powder here I have cake flour baking soda baking powder and salt and for the black cocoa powder guys if you guys are wondering where I got that I will post a link down in the description box for you guys to get so please go down there and check for that link and it will take you directly to this cocoa powder that I'm using black cocoa powder that is or you guys can like I said look that up on Amazon and it'll take you to other buyers okay so this right here is what we're looking for everything is nicely mixed so now we're gonna go ahead and add half of this into my wet ingredients and I'm also adding in my buttermilk and we're gonna go ahead and just beat that until it is well incorporated but remember guys don't over make sure cake batter because if you do it will come out hard and tough and that's the last thing you want is for your cake to come out hard and tough okay so here we are here you can see the cake batter is very very thick so now we're gonna color it and I'm using a super black gel food coloring I also got this on Amazon and I'll post a link down below for this as well so please check the description box so now I'm adding in a teaspoon at a time of this black gel food coloring until I reach the color that I'm looking for so again guys remember this is a black velvet cake so we're pretty much gonna do the same as we would as what we were using or if we were making a black velvet cake okay so we're gonna go ahead and get that incorporated as well I'm not using a whole tube okay a lot of people use like the whole little small tube and the red velvet cakes we're not doing that okay we're using the gel food coloring and we don't need that much because gels food coloring is very very vibrant so now we're going ahead and get this incorporated with the spatula and like I said guys I just like to go in after I use the mixer and this is just to make sure I don't have any flour pockets in my cake batter when I start to separate it into my cake pans so this is just something I like to do if you don't you don't have to do this but I just like to do this okay so now I have three cake pans here that are Greaves and I also coat it with some of that flour before I put it into my cake powder cake batter I'm sorry but yeah guys it's just it just works better okay especially when you're making a chocolate cake is to try to have like a chocolate coating in your pan so now I'm just separating this into my three cake pans here and I'm just eyeballing it if you guys want to use a cup to separate it you can but now we're gonna go ahead and get this into the oven I have my oven set to 375 and we're gonna bake these cakes for about 40 minutes but of course you guys know I'm giving them good tap just to make sure there are no air pockets in my cakes so now my cakes did cool completely guys I apologize I just let them cool I cut the tops off I made the icing which you will can well you can find a link here above to the recipe for this icing in the videos showing you how I made it so please click the link above and we're gonna go ahead and get this into the layers of our cakes so I'm going on with my next layer and at this point guys you just want to step back and make sure your cakes are even you don't want to have no lopsided cake okay so just step step back observe your cake and just make sure those layers are even okay so now we're gonna go ahead and get the icing on here as well and then we're gonna get that smoothed out and I'm using one of these offset spatulas and these things are the bomb when you're decorating a cake okay I got this from Walmart it was five dollars and yeah guys these things are just the bomb when you're decorating your cakes okay so now I'm going on with my last layer here and if you guys are wondering what those little white pieces aren't on my cakes that's just from the size of the cake if you can see that there but yeah it's all good you can just go ahead and just knock those off or leave them as is because it ain't nothing but the butter with the flour okay so I'm we're gonna go ahead and get the icing on here as well and I'm using the last of my little icing on my piping bag here I actually had two bags that I piped the icing in so I'm using the rest of it if you can see right here I'm going to try to put the dollop like right in the middle and then we're gonna get that spread out and then we're gonna get this into the fridge so that it can set before we go on with our crumb topping okay and I'll tell you guys exactly what I did with the top of the cakes but now I'm just going ahead and frost the sides of my cake and I'm using a spatula to kind of take off the excess before I go back on with my offset spatula so yeah guys I just love cake decorating for those of you that know me you know how I am about baking my cakes okay so now I'm just going ahead and get all of that excess frosting off the top of my cake here and then get it back into my bowl that's on the side which you guys cannot see but it's over there so we don't want to have all that extra frosting if you like thick frosting on your cake by all means go ahead and load it up but I'm not one of those okay I like the frosting on there just enough to coat the cake okay I can't do the thick layers of frosting I just came out I'm sorry but if you like it go for it so now I'm just going ahead and check the cake to make sure everything is all good and it is so here are the crumb topping and this came from the little humps on the cake that was when I took them out of the oven I cut those off crumpet or mutt and I said I want to use all parts of this cake on my cake or leave it on there rather so what I did was I just made like a crumb topping and just coated the sides of my cake like what you see here to make it look actually look like a velvet cake and yeah guys we're just gonna go ahead and load those sides up so and we're gonna clean it up you know it looked a little messy right now it's all good but like I said we're gonna go ahead and clean it up just go ahead and pull the sides they're down I do have like a little unappetizing to continue to use what's down there to go you know the finish decorating my cake so here it is here I got all of the crumbs on the side of my cake and I did get some on the top but it's all good because I'm gonna show you guys what I'm gonna do to the top as well but we're gonna go ahead and get this back into the fridge so that everything can set and I'll bring you guys back well here we are here I went on ahead and I just got the icing into my pot well my other icing bag that I had the cake tip in and I'm just going on with little decorations guys these voiceovers are like something else okay so I went on ahead and just got that done and I just took some more of the little crumb topping that I had and put that in the middle of the cake and then we're gonna get this back into the fridge just so this can set again before I cut you guys a piece of cake so it's actually like we're gonna be getting this in the fridge out of the fridge in the fridge about a total of four times okay and that's just so that that icing can set so now I'm gonna go ahead and cut you guys a piece of this cake and at this point guys you are gonna make a bit of a mess again because again the crumbs on the side of the cake are gonna come down a little bit but not too much you guys can see right here it ain't a whole lot so yeah so just gonna go ahead and just cut that cake and wait you guys see the middle this cake is so moist it's decadent and to all my chocolate lovers out there you guys are gonna love this cake okay it is very very moist we got that vinegar in there we got that baking soda we got the buttermilk everything is just oh my god gotta play his part with this cake do you see that crumb do you guys see that crumb just beautiful so here it is guys I just wanted to go ahead I cleaned up my area I started cleaning up you know I couldn't leave I can't no I just had to get that cleaned up okay so here it is here I've just kind of spent it around so you guys can see how it looks after I cleaned it up this cake turned out beautiful this cake is so good you guys are gonna love this cake and I had to you guys saw I did start eating eye cups I'm a chocolate lover okay guys I love chocolate and I just could not wait okay so um yeah guys that's look at that crumb look at that crime so that's it for my video guys
