hi this is nice Matthew and today I'm going to make these beaded tassel earrings these earrings are our viewers request so if anybody has any ideas in the future please feel free to send me a picture and I'll see what I can do for these earrings I used a silk thread I used a black you could use something that's a little bit lighter something that's going to match the the beads a little bit better so you can't see it at all I didn't really mind the look of it but if you want it something that's going to be much less noticeable then you could use something like I don't know a silver or white or something like that that's going to match a little bit better or an illusion string would be sufficient - these are quite long you can make them much shorter than this if you prefer you just have to adjust the amount of beads you're going to use you can do these in a silver or a gold and you could also use a different type of bead cap whatever you have I used a long cone-shaped cap but you could use a more of a rounded cap if you prefer - there's a lot of versatility for those earrings and there is a lot of movement to them so let's get started a few different types of chords that you can use the first one here that I have is illusion cord and you can't really see it it's it's supposed to be clear it's like a fishing line and I like it the only thing I don't like about it I've done one wants to keep its own shape so you notice it kind of curves rather than hanging straight but if you use the silk which is what I prefer just a silk thread just has more movement because this type of variance or it's a dangler and you want a lot of movement so you could do with the illusion cord or any type of beading string you it's your choice but I'm going to show you how to use the silk today illusion cord is exactly the same or any type of beading you're going to knot it today I'm using this number two just a natural silk their reasonable priced way they they're measured is the smaller the number the smaller the size the diameter of the wire the two is about 0.4 or five millimeters and then if you were going to use a six that's a point seven millimeter they also come with a beading wire that's actually already attached to the to the silk so it's really easy for stringing and so forth it also comes on the card so what what you have to do when you first get a brand new card is you want to take the whole string off the card and then you would not from the end working your way down that way your your wire will always stay on your beading wire and you can use the whole thing so if you notice my my cord is quite long and of course it gets shorter as you go the first thing I'm going to do is I'm going to start just doing a I like to leave a bit of a tail it's just easier to finish it in the end you will need some glue too because I like to glue my knots to make sure that they're going to stay because silk has a tendency to unknot so that's really important and you can also do that if you're using the illusion cord so just a couple overhead hand not so just I do one knot like that and then I'm going to do one more like any any normal not you're going to just take one and go over and then do the second knot and you're going to do it right on the same knot that you just did to make it a little bit bigger little bit chunkier and I do three just to make sure the beads stay on so just pull you're not tight over that same knots and then you just have a nice good size not like that I don't I came up with based on the picture was to use seven silver you're going to have to count two because if you you can do it all one color if you prefer but if you want to do a pattern generally beads are always going to be the same so you have the silver the black and then what's going to change to make the different lengths of the cords is this turquoise color so you're going to use less turquoise beads as you go what I noticed that they did was they did a reduction by six and then four and then six and then four and I'll show you how that works so just string on seven beads or as many as you're going to use I'm just going to do my pattern of what I did and of course please feel free to change it as much as you like because it's it's your design this pattern makes earrings that are quite long they're about five inches from the top of the hook to the bottom most bead so again if you're going to if you want to adjust that just adjust the pattern accordingly if you keep to this same pattern then you'll you'll be able to get the cascading effect that I have with these just going to do seven beads on and these are just a silver these are a two millimeter silver plated bead you could use seed beads or gemstone beads or whatever kind of beads you want the only thing you have to think about is what will fit on your the stringing material you're using so I have seven beads on so far now I'm going to go with the black and it's nine of nine beads of the black and now I'm going to do 40 of the turquoise color so now I have 40 of the turquoise on and now what I want to do is I'm just going to do an overhand knot and what I'm doing is just wrapping it around my finger the string and then just pull that the string right through the loop just a regular type of knot so you're going to do something like this pull that right through and hold the knot so it doesn't close because I don't want to close it up okay so this is what I would have just a regular knot and just make it loose like that and then just cut it off so that you would have you're not ready to go and it will keep your beads on so just let them keep that to the side this is what it would look like if you can try and keep your knot as close to the top of the beads as possible though now that that's done you're going to do the exact same thing you're you're going to knot the end of your silk and I'll do one more just to show you and then I will finish it off and then come back with the earrings together so I'm just doing one knot and then another one that goes right over that same one just like I did before and then one more that goes right over so it's just a standard knot like this okay and just right on top of that other knot and then you would have to not to start out with back to the other end and there's your your wire your beading wire that you're using and then back to the seven nine and then instead of doing 40 I'm going to do a four and then the next time I'm going to do seven nine and thirty I'll put all the numbers there so that you can see how it reduces and you can adjust them according to the length of earrings you want to make it's good because you'll be able to gauge how many beads you want when you're following a pattern you so that would be your second one and that's 34 this time I'm going to do the exact same thing and if you know how to purl not this is ideal but if you don't that's fine too because basically with a pearl knotting you just want to take your if you when you're learning how to prolong going to learn how to slide your knot down so that is closer to your beads if you notice I'm loosely just slowly just sliding the the knot down closer to the beads and not going tight so something like that's the closer to the beads you can get the better so then you would have something like that and then just trim it up here give yourself a little tail so it doesn't come unraveled and then you would just lay that beside your next one and then do the exact same thing but you're going to reduce by four this time so that would take you from 40 34 and then you would go down to 30 so what I'm going to do is finish these up do a few more of these and then I'll come back and put it all together so I've done all my my lines so that's and I've laid them out according to their lengths so there's six of them and the last one is here and I'm just going to put a knot on the end of it like the others just like that and again if you want to slide that nine I'm just going to show you one more time so if the knot is up here and I want it this knot to be closer to the beads down here I'm just going to take either a needle or my pliers it gets too tight or too small the knot then you just have to open it up a little bit again like that so that it's easier to slide down so just start to slide it down and you'll notice it will slide down slide down closer to the beads so that it's really close to the beads like that and then all you do is cut it back so I have this cone and when you're picking your cones or bead caps you want to make sure that the diameter is big enough so that it can fit all the beads in so it actually fits okay if you notice they all sort of squeeze in but if you want to get a bigger diameter might work a little bit better so the diameter of this this is about five millimeters in diameter and the lengths about 20 millimeters so now you're just going to make a loop and make a good size loop because you want to be able to fit all those strings on and when you're putting your strings on just make sure you're using always the same side so either if you're using the short side use the short side always if you're using the long side use alongside always I'm going to use a short side just because it's easier and I'm just going to start to slide those not part I'm going to slide it right on to the open loop like that and then just hittin it up so you're just going to tug like that and it actually goes right into place so you're just going to do that with each one so now I have one and then the next longest one again the same side slide it right onto your loop and then just pull the top then that should tighten it up so it's coming close to the as close as possible to the bead okay next one and the next one on that's what I have so far and they all go nice and neat together like that and then the last one goes on and just give it a little tug so now I'm going to do is just take my loop and I'm just going to close that up that way everything's going to stay on really really well so you don't have to worry about it falling off so I'm just going to take my tail and I'm just going to wrap around and that's just going to lock everything into place let's trim back that accessible and then all these strings that you have here just take them all together like that so you should have about be chef six strings and if your if you do good job you'll do better than me and you'll have them all sort of around the same length it'll just be easier to grab hold of them so now I'm just going to make them into two bundles so three and three and it doesn't matter which one's just as long as it's three and three and then I'm just going to take the what the two bundles and I'm just going to just do a knot between the two and that's just going to hold everything in place a little bit more at this point after you do your knot if you want so you just see cross them over and then just tuck in three pull them right through you could do a couple of knots if you want it's your choice but you want to keep this you want to keep this really nice and secure because if not then your earrings will fall apart and that's not really what you want if you put all this work into it so there you go you have two knots up top like that now what I suggest is take a bit of bead glue this is a bead fix you could use that or there's also the GP G I think it's also the GS cement you could use that as well drop it on make sure that it's nice and dry before I'm not going to do it right now because it takes some time to dry but drop a bit of glue on that knot to secure then once it's dry then you're going to come back with scissors and you're just going to trim back all those and trim back all those those threads when you put the glue on top here you want to go back down to the bottom and then each knot that you've done here ideally drop it put a drop of glue on each one of those as well that way it will keep it all in place again I'm not going to do it but I do suggest that you do that at this point now you're just going to put that one wire right through that cone and it should fit through okay and the beads will sort of mold in and you just kind of give it a good tug and they should start to slide in like that and that's why it's important to have the diameter that's a good a good diameter so that everything will fit in nicely because if it doesn't fit in after you've done all work you're going to be disappointed so at this point you've got it on the cone and you just need to do a wrapped loop and I did a little bit longer loop on the other side so I'm just going to do the same so just you just do a regular loop like that and then just start to wrap it in just wrap it around wrap the tail around like that and then just trim it back suck any wires in so that will catch you and then down here you're assumed I'm assuming that you've already glued everything here and so now you can there's two ways to do this you could leave a little bit more like this and then just kind of fray it out to give it a more natural look now if you're using illusion wire you won't see any of these knots basically all you see is a knot but I would suggest that you actually do do a drop of glue so that nothing will come undone so just trim it back as close or as far away as you like so if you don't like the afraid look just go closer to the knot and just trim back all those pieces like that and then you would have your your earrings and then the last thing you want to do is just put on an ear wire open up at your wire and then just close up close it up you and we tap your completed earrings so this concludes the tutorial I hope you liked it if you did
