Please explain how to tie a bowline knot that won't tighten on itself

hi this week's blog posts I'm going to show you a fixed loop knot it's just a very handy not when you're out boating you might come to a jetty or something like that that doesn't have a cleat that you can rope off with the figure of eight you might just have a big round cleat there so you need to put a big loop around it it's also handy if you break off an anchor or something like that and you don't you don't have time to resupply sand other loop ones the chain or another saddle that is so this is just basically a fixed loop knot and it doesn't matter how tight it pulls you'll always get the knot undone it's called a bowline okay now what we do start off with about a meter from the end of your tag I'm up here make a loop like so then that's going to be your main loop what we do is then your tag comes back up through that loop from the bottom and then around those two lines there that's just a simple case of pulling it up tight and there you have a bowline now the best part about this knot is when it pulls really really tight it'll come undone because all you got to do is peel that back loop down like so and and wriggle that one there through at the same time it doesn't matter how tight that pulse that will always come undone and it will never slip so that is your bowline in the past I've used bowlines our four wheel driving where you need a quick makeshift loop out on the boat where we've had cut a rope for some various reasons coming up to a jetty and all of us you come to a veggetti you're not familiar with and it's only got a big round ball out there there's nothing you can clean off to properly so you simply have to make a big fixed loop so instead of taking ten minutes to splice a loop in your rope which is then fixed simply make a bowline doesn't matter how tight it pulls it'll come undone now if you have to go around a fixed object if you haven't got a proper pulling point or anything like that to loop the loop around as such what we do is simply make that loop once again then you go around the object and then come back through the bottom again then back up around those two lines and pull the tide that's it nice and simple and you can simply then tell you're made out of the bog or whatever application you're using it for around a tree to pull out a tree stump and then simply no matter how tight that pulls simply push back on that loop and wriggle that main line back that way and that whole knot will come undone nice and easy job done okay this demonstration we're just going to show you how we're just gonna pull them not really tight attached to vehicles to show you that we can get they're not undone they're just one word of advice if you're out four-wheel driving and you're towing another vehicle out and you don't have a snatch em strap do not do what we're doing here do not pull from your tow balls that's pretty dangerous actually have a shackle going through your chassis through one of the bolt holes and tow from the shackle so firstly what we're going to do let's make our bowline again give it a pull with the car pull it up nice and tight okay that's pulled up really tight as you can see it's like a bloody piece of string now anyway to get it undone you've got that loop that comes around the back of the night simply peel that down and try and push the other one just twist the nut the rope to tighten it up push it down and all always come undone no matter how tight you pull it so if you enjoyed this little tip and you'd like to see more join up to our free fishing community and you can also go on the draw to win a free Barrow charter with me you
