so even today I wanted to go over an important aspect of martial arts and that stuff taking care of your uniform now many times we tend to not take or not put too much focus and taking care of our uniform but one part of martial arts is developing one's character and discipline and your uniform basically speaks speaks volumes about the person who owns it so one of the things I wanted to go over is how to properly folk in uniform as he means to take care of your dough back and that way it'll last longer plus it represents or reflects the person who's using it so first we're going to start off with the with the actual top we're gonna do is we spread it out open it up putting it all up make it look nice then we're going to put all the drawstrings inside then we're going to fold your lip on the mug from your left side over making sure that all the strings of our in the jacket up now we're gonna fold over the right side make sure the strings are in line now the next thing you're going to do is you're going to take this seam from your sleeve and you're going to line it up with the seam on the lapel okay on your collar so you're going to take it make sure it lines up right on your collar and the top of your sleeve lines up on the top of your uniform so it runs across then you'll take it and fold it down then you're going to take your sleeve your cuff and bring it all the way to the other side and make sure it's lined up now you can do the same thing to the opposite side so you're going to take the seam from your sleeve bring it over to your collar to your lapel fold it over make sure that the sleeve runs across the top fold over the cuff to the edge of the foam that you just made the top part of it is done now what you going to do is going to take your pens again you're going to take the strings he's going to put them inside your pants then you'll take your pants fold it over and the crotch area you just keep it out make sure that everything is in line with each other and you're basically going to line it up with the right side so make sure that the pants is lined up on the right side and the top part or at the bottom part of the pants is lined up with the top part of the knee on the jacket okay then you're going to take the the crotch area that part the triangle part and just gonna fold it in okay make sure that everything is lined up nice and even then what you're going to do is you're going to fold your your jacket threefold so you're gonna take the first part which is just the extent the excess part of your pants and you're gonna fold it right where your jacket ends then you're going to fold it again the pants along with the jacket then you're going to take the opposite side and fold it by the sleeves and then close it just like a book and there you have it uniform is nice and folded now many times you can take your belt if you want you can take your belt put it underneath or in between and you take it put it in your bag it's no problem for what I like to do if you're not bringing them back to the gym or till the dojang you basically take your belt fold it in half as if you were putting it on hold it in half and just lay it out and then put your uniform right that in the middle and bring the hoop part over and then the other part and put it right in between the hoop and just pull okay then you can just straighten out your belt make sure everything is in line and there you have it and you can just bring it along with you just like this you can also go to the extent of folding it again so you open it up make sure that the bend or that's at the hoop is right in the middle and you just open it unfold it again this way so you just put one underneath and one underneath and then the other string right underneath and you basically have it just like a gift and you bring your uniform just like that now I'm not saying this is the only way to pull the uniform but this is one way the way that I was taught and it was really stressed when I was practicing martial arts as a kid it was one of the things that we were tested on and now that that I'm actually teaching and trying to pass on what I've learned I see how important your folding in uniform is again not only does it develop character and responsibility for taking care of something that's important to you but it also reflects the person who's wearing it so hopefully with that we'll learn how to fold our uniforms properly and start taking better care of them you
