Today we're making instruments from household
items. We're going to make a Popsicle stick harmonica. What you will need is two Popsicle sticks. It doesn't really matter what sizes you get. Just make sure they're both the same. They can be long or short. I thought these were kind of cool curvy ones. You will need one thick rubber band and two
thin rubber bands. One index card. And some tape and some scissors. So part one. What we're going to do is we're going to take
the index card and we're going to cut them into quarter pieces. So about so. Something like that. Make a few of them. You're going to place both Popsicle sticks
on top of each other, like that. Once they're on top of each other, you're
going to take what you've cut, the index card, and you're going to wrap it all the way around
the Popsicle stick like that. And you are going to get a piece of tape and
you are going to tape it together. It doesn't really matter if the index card
falls off a little bit. What matters is that eventually that it stays
on the ends of each Popsicle stick. So it should look like that. Now we're going to do the same thing on the
other side. Take the index card, wrap it all the way around,
and secure it with some tape. Now we're going to remove one of the Popsicle
sticks and save it for later. So next thing we're going to do is we are
going to take our thick rubber band and put it lengthwise around the harmonica. Make sure that the index card stays towards
each end of the stick like that. Then we're going to take the other Popsicle
stick that we put aside and we're going to stick them on top of one another. Now we're going to take our thinner rubber
bands and on each end we're going to tie them around. Might have to tie them three or four times,
however it takes. That's one end. We're going to do the other end. Okay, now we're going to get ready to blow
our wooden harmonica. And that's how you make a harmonica out of
Popsicle sticks.
