Please explain how to leg drive to get more pitching velocity!

in this video we're going to talk about how to leg drive to get more pitching velocity what's up guys don't forget to hit that subscribe button I got some great pitching videos coming soon and I want you guys to be notified when I upload them so hit that subscribe button like I said in this video we're going to talk about how to leg drive to get more pitching velocity first of all what is leg drive leg drive is what you're what you want to be I was going to say what you're doing but what you want to be doing when you're pitching it's when you drive off of that mound ok drive off of that rubber now I want to talk about three different types of this really there's only one way to do it but there's I see three common things that happen one is you'll see some guys jump right you'll see a lot of guys who they understand leg drive and they understand that pushing off of this rubber is good driving off of this rubber is good but they don't grasp the concept or the idea or the movement of driving so it looks more like they're jumping it's like they're jumping off that mount which is no good right the other thing I see is guys who don't do that at all and they just kind of get tall and kind of fall right there using no back leg at all to push off that rubber so I don't like either one of those I think the best is that you're kind of getting into a good position and you're driving off of that back leg okay as far as what you're trying to do when this happens think of it as driving a fast car right if I were to take off or slam on the gas all the way to the floor right slam the pedal to the floor what's going to happen I'm going to spin out my wheels are going to spin out that's the same thing that's going to happen if you try to push too hard too early those are the jumping guys right they're going to be like ah but everything's going to be messed up up here their arms and everything is going to be left behind it's going to be dragging through right that's like your wheels spinning out so that's no good so you want to think about it as progressively getting faster right progressively driving through with your back leg as you're pushing off of there so it's like I'm starting off pretty fast I'm going and I'm driving right I'm sitting into it and I'm driving so you want to have a good angle on your back leg right your knee always wants to be inside of your back foot I don't want to see your knee over your back foot because when you get up here you're kind of sitting into it but then you still you're enter if you push off of that you're you're pushing up that's good if you're trying to jump and dunk a ball but we're pitching we want to create energy going that way so the knee wants to stay in side of that back foot okay so we want to stay just inside that back foot and then we want to kind of progressively get faster as we go down that mount and then extend through we want ankle extension then the extension and then this back hip extension okay and that's how we get that hip to shoulder separation as we transfer that weight up through our body so now how do we work on that that makes sense right how do we work on that two things I really really really highly recommend one is the sitting drive pitching drill and I made a video about this so I'll leave a link below to where you can work on it you can watch the sit and drive video basically you're sitting on a bucket or a chair into this angle with that back knee and you're driving off and you're really working on that leg drive and getting stronger in that back leg the second thing I highly recommend is getting a king of the hill a king of the hill is a leg drive trainer great trainer it's a force plate and it lets you audibly know instantly if you're doing it right so you get instant feedback whether whether you're driving welling up off your back leg and it's adjustable so it works for all aged players I'll leave a link below where you can get one of those as well but it's a great training tool I think like more than half of the major league teams are using them now tons and tons of colleges across the country are using the king of the hill to train their pitchers now it's a newer product to market but it's a really really great one and I highly recommend that so again I'll leave the link below where you can get that but those two things will help you work on your leg drive okay so now you know how to use your leg drive to create more pinching velocity and you know what to work on to get more out of it okay hope you guys like this video I hope it helps hit that thumbs up if it did don't forget to leave a comment below and I'll talk to you guys there let me know which which shipping drill with the king of the hill with your favorite you guys encounters you
