hi and welcome to an episode of soap queen tv i'm anne-marie from brambleberry.com and soap queen tv and today we're joined by our special guest janie from dirty laundry this is her second episode on soap queen tv so if you like what our design is here you are going to love the first episode she did on making bath fizzy cupcakes so be sure to watch that one thanks for having me back anne marie we're so glad to have you so have you ever made soap before well i've made some really simple mountain pour meringue soap and of course i watched soap cream tv and i used the bramble berry scent and they turned out great but i'm excited to learn something a little bit more advanced and i designed some cute packaging to go with these soaps so i'm excited to see what they look like awesome so when we were planning this and you told me what your favorite dessert was it was petty force oh yum so i designed something that is a little bit larger it's like a not so petite peta four yeah that's really cute i think you should trademark that so let's get to it first thing we're going to do is we're going to melt four and a half ounces of white soap in the microwave on 30 second increments and of course if you don't know how to use do mountain pour i would urge you to go back and review some of the early episodes of soap queen tv because we're going to kind of move a little quick in this episode so our soap is fully melted now and so it's time to add our fragrance so tell me a little bit about the fragrance blend you designed for us i think we're going to use hello sweet thing kind of smells like a birthday okay mixed with vanilla selection all right so for this little four and a half ounce size we're just gonna do three milliliters of vanilla select and three milliliters of vanilla color stabilizer okay and the reason we're using the vanilla color stabilizer is because it'll help keep our soap white if we didn't the soap might go brown and i use that in all of my cupcake baths yes nice tip okay let's add our fragrance and let's add our color and stir it's three milliliters of vanilla select fragrance and three milliliters of vanilla color stabilizer okay i got my three okay and let's just stir stir stir stir stir stir until it's really mixed in all right and then i'm gonna show you a really special tip so these are the soapy love sprinkles i love these because they're perfect they look just like dessert so nice so you sprinkle a little bit in the bottom of the silicone cube mold from bramble berry the tip to being able to actually see these sprinkles through the white soap is this take a little bit of melted white soap and just drizzle it over yeah very very very lightly just a tiny little bit to kind of glue it in like spider webs oh it's kind of just setting it so you don't want to pour in the soap and they sink to the bottom sink to the bottom or float to the top either one and now temperature is really important on this so let's check this temperature of the four and a half ounces of white that we have left we want it to be about 130 or below because if it's hotter than that it's going to melt all the drizzled soap not good okay our hard work would eat all done all right okay so it's 130 or below final step in order to help those layers adhere so the little drizzle layer and then the white layer we're going to put in we spritz with rubbing alcohol it helps to remove any surface tension and anything that might get in the way of those two layers sticking you want to do the honors pour all right let me start pouring nice nice steady hand trying to keep all these layers even how's that looks great you have eyeballed it perfectly so while we're letting this hard let's work on our accent layer okay let's for this one let's just do a little bit of clear stuff two ounces of clear soap okay and this is such a small amount of soap it's going to take like 15 to 30 seconds in the microwave so do not put it on for more than 30 seconds or else you'll end up with boiled soap foil tip smells really bad and it's kind of yellow okay and for this color we want it to be really bright so we're going to use a fizzy lemonade color block from bramble berry in the clear soap because if we were to use white soap what would happen it's going to look kind of pastel exactly as bright as the yellow that we want exactly so the way this works is you just shave off little tiny bits of this color block into the soap nice work nice work how does that look that looks good but you know what let's keep let's add a little bit more i really want this color to pop that looks good so just keep stirring until all the color block is fully melted in all right and just like the last time let's check to see that temperature okay it's below 130. okay final thing we have to do to make sure that we are safe to put this in check that first layer is it hard enough to actually support the second layer yeah in this case it's yeah in this case it's hard so let's go ahead spritz with rubbing alcohol and eyeball it and try and pour these evenly between the three cavities okay just a little because this is a thin this is a thin layer it's just an accent layer all right and i'm pouring in the middle so we don't have any drippy sides oh yeah very smart yeah because if we did drip down the side it wouldn't be the end of the world we could let it harden and then just kind of scrape it off the side but it's easier not to make the mistake to start with right it's time for layer three for this one this is gonna actually fill up the rest of the mold so we're gonna do a whole 10 ounces of white soap okay so this will take probably a couple minutes to melt but we're still going to go ahead and melt in 30 second to one minute increments because again boiled soap smells terrible all right soap is fully melted no chunks in there which is great so we're going to use the fizzy lemonade color block again and yeah just go ahead and shave it off and notice we're getting such a beautiful pastel soft hue because we're using white instead of clear right oh it looks like the perfect birthday cake is this is it ready to pour in now um not quite let's add our fragrance on our vanilla color stabilizer so nine milliliters so that's three dropper fulls of vanilla color stabilizer and nine milliliters of hello sweet thing stir stir stir stir i'd say you probably stir for like probably 30 seconds to get it fully mixed in okay see the yellow what's going on next we are going to make sure that that second layer is firm okay seems good perfect and then we're going to take the temperature of our soap boom it's got to be under 130 you are a quick learner right and you have to spray this yeah i'm going to spray it spray to get those layers adhered okay final thing ready to pour and this is a thick layer this is a thick layer um almost to the top almost to the top you know if you fill these all the way flush to the top they're a little bit harder to release so i like to leave like a quarter inch or so so i can easily release okay that's all perfect now one finishing spritz of rubbing alcohol to get all of those bubbles away okay now you can put this aside for about four hours and it'll be ready to pop out and of course through the magic of television i did make these ahead of time so let me show you how to pop out of these silicone molds you pull gently away from the sides here kind of releasing the airlock turn it over push with both of your thumbs and just push gently down okay gently the first one is always the hardest to release all right okay and now you can see it's coming so you can either just kind of keep pushing pushing or you can kind of pull it from the bottom okay either way all right you want to try a couple yeah let me turn all right we're gonna pull um and nice nice technique it's kind it's coming yeah just grab it okay there you go ah perfect these look so cute fine i love birthday cake really good i made these little guys ahead of time i really thought they matched the color scheme so this is strawberry fragrance oil with electric bubble gum color from bramble berry and then this one is clementine cupcake the smell with tangerine wow color from bramble berry these are adorable and i'm so excited about them but you have one finishing final touch and a gift for our soap queen tv viewers yes i designed some cute packaging to go with these soaps and when you give them away to somebody they'll look really cute and finished all together nice so you designed an entire template yes it looks like you print them all out on one piece of paper tell us how you do this well here at soap queen tv you guys have card stock already so you can just print directly on the card stock or you can print out on paper and spray some spray mount on it and stick it on some card stock oh so you don't have to have card stock that goes through a printer if you don't know you can just use your paper spray them out and put it on cardstock or you can get some colored poster boards so when your person opens the box it's like a little bright color inside nice okay so we've printed this out on cardstock and now what you kind of cut on the outside and then you score on the inside where the box is so we're using we're using a craft knife here yes an exacto knife and a ruler and we have our cutting mat it's important to have a cutting mat right like we would completely cut through the wood here yeah you don't want to do that no when you're scoring you use your exacto knife and you lightly cut just lightly go over almost breaking the skin of the paper you're going to get a nice fold perfect so let's go down this um horizontally we're almost have it out so oh we missed a couple of spots to cut let's just do the little corners here and that was out cute i love it so now what so let's fold the edges okay of the box so now we're making the boxes and see how that score gives you a nice clean line really nice like if we hadn't had that i can see where this would be big trouble really lumpy bumpy and we're gonna use some double-sided stick tape to fold in the flaps on the bottom and on the side okay i would totally tape the top shut on accident i've done that before already so just be sure that you leave the top flap open because your soap has to go in okay perfect so let's see if the soap fits okay here we go oh perfect now i already wrapped these soaps that are going inside and i think it's really important that we do wrap them because glycerin soap tends to attract moisture and our box isn't airtight so these soaps get awfully sweaty in the box yeah and you don't want ugly right sweat marks on wrap your soaps before you put them in the box it is a real professional look it totally is professional and you can get this free download at brambleberry.com and i like how you put the little like these are perfect for gift wrapping yeah i put to and from and made from love so i can write two ann marie thank you you can also put bows on there to coordinate i love that little bow on there a little extra personalization super so be creative awesome well thanks so much for joining us today on soap queen tv it was so wonderful to have you thanks for having me i hope i get to come back until next time happy soaping bye well when we were talking about what you wanted to make you told me your favorite dessert was pettit fours nobody has even said okay and i just think they match so nicely these little these little petite fours there is no such thing that word does not exist
