in this video i want to show you how to brush plate gold onto stainless steel in this case it's a spoon i paid for a pack of five i think wasn't a pound so very cheap here in the uk first of all i show you what i use what rectifier i use switch it on in a minute so let's get started i switch the rectifier on first that's the white rectifier it's about seven nine years old now right this is what i use i use first of all the spoon you know the cheap one from the pound shop and a swap you can get us all from my ebay shop i'll tell you later where you get it from and a carbon electrode but and an electro handle that's the one i'll show you how to put them together put it in there but because it's carbon very very soft so don't tie it up too much only a little bit that's it only tiny bit carbon electrode you can use basically for any plating any plated gold silver or platinum whatever you want to play but i use a platinum electrode this is a flat platinum electrode you can get it from spa plating directly um i'll show you how it works you put the swap on this is not exactly the size for this flat electrode a little bit oversized is why i fold it over you can see it's not exactly so now you soak it in and you can play very very quickly with this one very quickly but we use a normal one today a small one flat not a flat one this is deionized water what i use pump it up and then use it with my tray always use this water if you rinse or anything on something like this very important put the gloves on it's very very important don't contaminate the item and of course your safety right this is the platinum electrode it's not a carbon as a platinum that lasts forever basically all right put the plus cable on there of course always on the swap plus and minus always on the item so to put a swap on is a little bit tricky with this electrode because the platinum electrode is quite rough it's it's not smooth so you must be careful you get it on if you've done it the first time the next time you put it on it's much much easier all right the next one i used figueno to uh use uh the gold solution the gold solution is is like water basically and you use thickener to make it like a gel you know like that it doesn't run away when you play bathroom tubs which i've done with this stuff a couple of days ago normally i would use normal solution normal solution in this case with a little item um you only play it a little bit make sure you soak it in very very well otherwise there's no current going through especially when it's when you use fake it off right for cleaning and activating we use mpu because you get this in my shop as well very well you can use a tissue or something i use a swab and yeah you clean you wipe it in you you clean and activate at the same time it's just brilliant stuff if you have smooth areas absolutely brilliant better than you can use electro cleaner electro activator if you want but you need another swap and another electrode and so on there's more hassle that you need to rinse in between make sure you don't contaminate but the mpu you can't even leave on there you don't even you don't need to rinse if you don't want to you can play it now straight on but i rinse it of course i rinse it always um it doesn't contaminate at all right put the negative on the item and then you start playing and you see straight away straight away you can see after seconds color changing straight away i put the voltage on four and a half in this case of four five four i don't go higher than four and a half volt it's a very small item i'll go down to even three three and a half well make sure you move to swap all the time don't stop moving if you stop moving for a few seconds or so on the item it will maybe go dark so you move a little bit around maybe a little bit slower than this i rushed a little bit there as you can see yeah and you can see the colors already there i only play this area nothing else i don't play the other side i need to show how it works if it is a show item for example you're done basically now if you want to have a thick layer if it will be used or solid spoon for example you need to play at least 10 15 minutes or maybe even longer there's an online calculator on the spa plating website where you can work on the surface area the area where you play it what thickness you want and so on when you finish with the plating you can you put a swap in a bag like this put a touch of water in there a nice water um don't touch if you don't use it for you can leave it there for weeks and weeks and you can use it after a few weeks if you want so you put it on next time and it's already soaked in in in the solution so this one makes your seal i guess it is so chopped on clean stuff up make sure everything is
