hi I'm Damien I work here at liquid Kitty in West LA California and today we're gonna be talking about the Gin Fizz the Gin Fizz is an interesting drink it's been around since the 1800s mid to late 1800s and there's a million variations of it it was traditionally a gin-based drink with lemon juice and a little sweetener and then they put a little soda water in it to give it some effervescence but over the course of the years there's been so many different kinds a slow Gin Fizz which is a currants based gin a little bit sweeter there's a Ramos Gin Fizz which is popular in New Orleans that has a million different ingredients and a million different recipes for it I can't even go into describe how many there are and what all the three ingredients are there's a golden Gin Fizz which is just egg yolk there's a there's there's just many many different variations today we're just gonna make a traditional old Gin Fizz I'm going to start with a rocks glass we're gonna fill it with ice and your base is gin so we're gonna use today we just take array a little five-count I'm gonna squeeze half a fresh lemon in there and because I'm using fresh lemon rather than bottled lemon juice bottled lemon juice to be a little bit sweeter we're gonna add what they call what we call simple syrup simple syrup is just a concoction of sugar and water heated together and melted we make ours here some bars we'll buy it we make our own my boss Dave little owns the bar we'll make a leader at a time and you only need a little drop of that maybe half an ounce and now I'll shake it now before I have the soda water get all those ingredients nice and mixed in together and then I'll top it with soda garnish it with a fresh lime the interesting thing about this drink is sometimes you have to warm people especially here because we'll make it with fresh lemons lemons have a lot of seeds so there's a lot of seeds at the bottom of this kind of weather interesting things about the drink but then once you warn them you just give them the drink and let them enjoy that's your traditional Gin Fizz everybody you go to is gonna have a different set of glasses that they use some use multi-use glasses for everything some will use rocks glasses for your drinks on the rocks as well as your mixed drinks so much as you go you go to forgot to a banquet or a wedding they'll just have a wine glass everything comes in a wine
