hanging out with one of the dogs here at the Santa took shelter named sua um people don't really see that much of because she's kind of afraid of everybody because I'm really the only one that handles her she does get some tics if I don't get them off every day so I was just petting her and I found some ticks and I was gonna keep going I said you know I'm gonna stop I'm gonna get the camera my tic tic junkies on 10-part Island I'm gonna want to see this so it's just some ticks but I know you guys are weird and you love them so sue has been the santisuk for a while she was actually a resident of the dog shelter for a long time and then one day about gosh almost two years ago she was paralyzed like she couldn't walk couldn't move her front legs couldn't move her back legs so they sent her to a local hospital she was there for over a month and they didn't really do anything with her they didn't help her and she had bed sores on her hips and her shoulders and the bones had actually popped out of all four of those joints so she still has some pretty gnarly scars and one that's actually kind of always opening and then always closing I keep a bandage on it and she couldn't walk so we did a lot of physical therapy every day like four times a day for ten minutes at a time and she can actually walk pretty well now well enough to run away from people but she does have some big old ticks sue I do want to say hi this will we get into the tick picking all right um again it's always hard to restrain the dog and show you guys what I'm doing so like here's it look at this this is a giant so these big female tips they always have little nails with them so you can see the one fat female and then one two three males in there with them you just kind of want to get them all and just pluck them off see they still wriggling around she is bleeding a little bit from the site that's alright there's actually still one more right there I can't get it hmm yeah we got it so we got three males and the big big female we put those in our Cup gross but you guys love it why do you love this so much let's keep going okay we have another female not quite as in gorgeous as the other one and I don't see a male so again we just want to go deep down next to the skin and just pop it right off and that's not uncomfortable for her at all put it in a little box and the bucket she's alright baby girl she's okay and then how I find him is I kind of just feel I go by touch so like I feel something here if I go in it's just a little scab and I feel something here it's to melt it's just kind of hard to focus on so pinch em you know they're right so this is a smaller female so this is a lot like you know these ticks they're just brown dog ticks so like the deer ticks we get at home so we get two mouths one and two and again we're just kind of pinch me pinch him right off the solo mail which is what you're gonna find the most there is here we're going around just grab it pinch and she's sitting so well so uh are you being so good Oh and as I'm petting her right there what's that oh geez so that's a female and a big male to Paige and I got the female and one male but I think we left one male in there so we did go back in remember guys they're just they're spiders they're arachnids they're not they're not gonna bite me right here the skin on my fingers is too thick and if they did I just pop them off it's not a big deal so the places you want to check the most for ticks are on the neck so ticks love to be in this area on the shoulders up to underneath the ears and then inside the ears now suah has really long hair here so she never really has any width in her ears I don't see any in there but usually they love this shoulder area and I just have another one right there two boys so they love this area they love the armpit so we'll definitely check her armpits in between the toes they love in between the toes and then actually at the base of the tail - so this area down here they really like they don't really like it so much on sewer you'll kind of find that different different dogs through different coats and different coat lengths and different spots you can have $2 in the exact same environment and one of them is going to be covered in them and the other ones not gonna get many at all I don't know it's just the way it is so when you have a lot of dogs you kind of you know who you need to look at more so sewer is next card which is a really good flea and tick preventative but environmentally there are so many in the environment that new ones are hopping on all the time and they don't get a chance to drink the blood which has the poison from the next card and die so they can transmit their diseases in that time so we're talking about ehrlichia and a plasma Babesia all kinds of bad stuff that we don't want suet again you can see here she is bleeding white I mean that's a fair bit from where we took the big tick off and that's just because the tick has the the anticoagulant in its mouth in its pincers so when we take it off while it's feeding that anticoagulants still there so it's still gonna bleed a little bit but no worries um I'll check on it a mom sure she'll be fine she's a strong girl with a real strong constitution hey you got a big one here you know with Oh a male attached to with it all the time right pinch this is a decent little nest site you can see I think we've got one two three four kind of all together so affect that um in ten minutes we've got quite a few bugs they're trying to escape you I'd say we'd get a good nearly forty five world affected and first so it was great because she just got to hang out and sit and get love and she's alright with that she's such a sweet girl um she is she's so sweet and once she's comfortable with you she's really really nice well she just likes to run away cuz she's afraid thanks for watching I know you guys like to take videos so little tick seasons coming up so we're gonna have ticks I'm Steph thank you so much for watching we're hitting 10,000 subs soon and it's very exciting sue is excited yeah thanks for watching if you like this if you want to see more from my channel then definitely click the subscribe button click the thumbs up like and check out santisuk dog and cat so RG to learn more about amazing dogs like sua and amazing cats like you've seen on this channel and alright have a great day I love you right you free run away run away oh you know get some more bugs
