this video will show you how to use the blade removal tool this rugged metal tool is designed to hold your tractor blades securely in place so you can safely and quickly remove the blade for replacement or sharpening before you begin make sure you have the proper tools and safety items wear safety glasses and gloves as you work a tractor blade is very sharp you will need to slide the tractor deck out from under the tractor using a piece of cardboard or a blanket will protect the deck from being scratched or damaged when working on it upside down be sure to take all safety precautions listed in your equipment owners manual take the blade removal tool and place it over one end of the blade and the side of the tractor deck is shown tighten the clamping screw on to the tractor deck until the tool is firmly in place the tool should not slide on the edge of the mower deck keep in mind this tool will not work on the middle blade of a three blade tractor deck using the proper size socket and a large breaker bar loosen the bolts securing the cutting blade to the deck spindle shaft note how the blade removal tool keeps the blade from rotating during the process remove the blade from the tractor and keep the nut and any blade adapter parts nearby for installation of the new blade make note of the orientation of the blade you'll want to assure that the replacement blade is oriented the same way with the curved portion of the blade tips pointing in towards the deck most cutting blades will have the words top or bottom stamped into the metal to help the user orient the blade take the end of your new blade and slide it into the blade removal tool make sure it is oriented correctly line up the center hole of the blade to the spindle shaft and slip the blade onto it using a torque wrench tighten the blade bolt or nut to the proper torque setting as indicated in your operator's manual loosen the clamping screw on the blade removal tool the tool should then slide easily away from the blade and the side of the deck repeat these steps on the other tractor deck blade slide the deck back under the tractor and reconnect as described in your owners manual level the deck according to the manufacturer's specifications and you're ready to mow
