people keep saying up countries a turnip green I don't get it the year you all right today we're going to plant some turnip greens I'm just going to plant one row because these things are plentiful and we're going to use the purple top white gloves these are pretty common them turnip greens that beautiful I love them you can plant these in full Sun these get about probably about two feet tall and they get a big old bowl on the bottom like big old potato and what these are good for is you can eat the tops you can cook them down just like you would collard greens or any other kind of green or and you can chop up the the bulb the potato and dice it up and put it in there with it and it gives it a real good taste I personally like to take the bowl by itself and chop it up just like I would a potato and boil it down let some salt and pepper and butter on it and you got yourself quite a little side dish I love them so this is going to be a direct so straight into the garden I'm not going to start it with stronger of cups just right into the ground so let's go get started all right we're going to plant them in the garden turnip greens I'm just going to put in one row direct so I'm going to do it just like I do all my other direct sow seeds cultivate the ground great it move my string over to that row punch in the holes drop in the sea squeeze it package squeeze it back won't take a look very long to do it that way let's do it okay we got the seed song covered up we'll be back in about a couple of weeks ten days a couple weeks and we'll check on the progress of these little guys turnip greens been going for three weeks now they're starting to show some improvement if you look down a row you can see how much they've grown they haven't made any turnips yet the big the big root that I'm really looking for but these are real fast growers so it's not not going to be very much longer and you'll start to see those those big bulbs start to emerge and break the surface of the ground and that's where my mouse gonna start watering cuz I like them things so we'll be back in a couple more weeks and check on these two people say I'm country as a turnip dream I got to give them credit I think I am these are turnip greens they've been in the ground for four weeks since we direct sewed them together four weeks ago and the tops are fantastic now I want all I'm doing is waiting on that bulb to start to grow the root and it'll be a purple top on it with a white glue and we'll come back and harvest these on our next video in a few weeks and I like to cook the greens like just like a green you boil it down and cook it and you can take the turn up and chop it up and dice it up and add it into the pot it's great season and tastes good that's a good way to cook these another way is I like to take the turnip roots chop them up and cook them like potatoes diced up potatoes and add a little salt and pepper and butter making myself hungry again but man that's a good eating side dish so this is our turn green so I just did one row because it's a plenty for me and Nancy so we appreciate you following along on this little journey from the direct so one of the seeds of these turn green still amount will catch another video in the weeks ahead on how to actually harvest these so we appreciate you watching if you like our videos please subscribe to our Channel and always remember bias hangs we're saying give us lowly ok leave an amen have a blessed day you thanks for watching our videos we really love making them if you like our videos please like our Facebook page to get the latest tips and tricks please subscribe to our YouTube channel to get the newest video like it it would really inspire and encourage us but most importantly share to encourage others will welcome your comments in question thank you have a blessed day
