Please explain how to cut a design bigger than your mat - silhouette cameo

hey guys so I'm just going to talk a little bit about how I cut those trees that I put in my living room den about eight feet tall um I don't have the exact design anymore I was on my old laptop that crashed on me last year and I lost everything so I just went ahead and found some image on Google and traced it so ignore this poor quality it's not very good but um at least I give you like the gist of how to do it so the first thing you want to do is signs it out to the exact size that you want to have like I said I think mine were like 8 feet tall so just punch in those sizes zoom out here so you can see it all I'm going to release the compound path I can individually move them around um I personally do not like cutting without my mat I've had my vinyl come off the rollers too many times so I always cut 12 by 24 and so this is how I sized them out for it um go ahead and zoom in here so you can see what we're doing so all you do is come over here to the mat I try to squeeze as much of this tree onto the mat as I can now looks like that's about as good as it's going to get then you come over to the knife tool and we're just going to cut right down the side and you hold the shift key and then cut and it'll cut perfect straight line okay and then I'll do a cut down here okay now this Oh actually how long this is two pieces now I'll grip these together now this is its own penis and this is its own piece so I mean you can either just cut it like this or you can ungroup them um I tried to keep them proportioned correctly so then when I was putting it on the wall it was right um see you guys see this piece it's like yeah that's okay we can keep these ones spaced apart like this and then we'll piece them to the base of that one so we'll go ahead and save this as one cut for now and then do the same thing try and get as much on the mat as we can get our knife tool hold shift slicing right through say that's another piece so basically all you're doing is going through and just slicing through all these so that you know it will fit on your mat and once you've got to cut into all these pieces like this you can play around with them and try and squeeze as much as you can onto pieces of vinyl so you're not wasting like all this empty space here like I could probably put these two together after slicing this one here yeah I could probably even squeeze this one with this piece on the mat so this would be one gut about this guy over here with this this would be one cut you know this would be one cut and then you just do that with all of the trees just slice them up like that cut them all out and then you just piece them together on the wall kind of like a puzzle it's really easy I think I did four trees no fight no four trees on my walls and it took um I did the math I think it maybe cost me like fifteen fifteen dollars in vinyl or something like that it wasn't much it's just a lot of hours of sitting here cutting this up kind of the vinyl and putting them on the wall and then the only thing you recommend is because these are such big pieces when you go to put it on the wall um use something sturdy transfer tape I use GLAAD press and seal and it was horrible and flimsy and it kept sticking to itself and it was a nightmare so use some sturdy transfer tape and you should have no problems so here are my trees I'll be Bruce sleeps on my couch um but I thought I would show you guys up close here you have my camera okay okay this part right here you see this line polishes space and then right here there's a space I didn't get um close enough when putting the vinyl on and I don't know if it's the temperature may be the humidity or something that makes the vinyl maybe shrink or move or something a little bit because when I put this on it was not like this until you know so much time had passed these have been up since oh gosh I think the beginning of 2014 so it's been a while but it's been spaced for quite some time now but um like down here I'm still thinking probably this very well but I overlapped it better so it hasn't spread like those ones have up there so when you go to put it on I just try to overlap it a little bit and maybe it'll helped to avoid this this is the first time I've ever pieced any pieces like this so it was kind of a learning experience but I'm I mean I looks really good the leaves are you know individual pieces and the birds are individual pieces and like I said just use some sturdy transfer tape my husband helped me put it all up but it was pretty easy and you know cost-effective so let me know if you have any questions thanks guys
