that is a nanobrewery I know it looks like a house but it's also a nano brewery hi welcome back to the happy hour guys welcome to Marquette Michigan on the very chilly shores of the Great Lake they call gitche gumee I wish been a beer or 1000 but because they're so successful there is no beer until Friday Friday and this is Andy yes and this big yes we're hearing the black rocks Brewing Company you may not have heard a black rocks Brewing Company well you're about to they just got started we're sitting in and out of his right wing it's right here no it's over there bigger than the bigger than the candles are smaller than 20 barrels so why are these guys so popular and why are they running out of beer every week is Marquette a craft beer desert actually it isn't but what's different about black rocks is that these guys are brewing in small batches every single week so the menu is changing all the time variety the spice of life so if you're in their mug Club they have a mug club by the way you might fill it up with something different every week like this coconut brown they were working on oh god I'm sorry I missed that one by the way these guys are all athletes endurance athletes of one kind or another this is made by a local artist named Andy Gregg cross-country skiing skate skiing all bicycle based and mountain biking as well right there's what other bike those kind of people need to replace carbs with one of the best recovery things in the world is beer and while there's no official definition of a nanobrewery most people say that it's about having a brew system that's less than seven barrels and on their opening weekend black rocks was selling this wonderfully crafted beer at three dollars and fifty cents a pint no wonder they sold out so black rocks has already been embraced by their community here's some advice they might have for you let's say you want to start an NL brewery step one have a dream you know if that means we're growing and we're able to pay for our homes and make a living for ourselves and provide to the community and they in that growth I think for compy but as long as we have fun I mean it's why we got into in the first place because it's like this is something new this is fun and we can create and it's and already other people can enjoy I think other people have by doing this so there's a certain amount of local interest or a certain amount of local support as well as giving back to the community as much as they're giving to the roof step to get some kind of a severance package step 3 learn how to brew run yourself figure it out figure out what your brains do figure out what the hops to figure out everything you can expand the scale okay you know I would say have two three four five recipes that you feel comfortable and confident that you can redo this step for Vermont brew morning I keep brewing keep your head we have so far to going on still maybe will be or sixty years old and will be like David I got it you know I think I got this ale it's right now at five I think five or six talk to current professional Brewers if you have a local microbrewery in town there's a there's a thing about I think Brewers and breweries or brew pubs they all adhere to the the rising tide raises all ships and Radek six would be probably kind of merging in between all those is give away a lot of your beer because you need that feedback yeah find out if this I think it tastes good but they have to bounce it off people you need a panel if you're looking at get into a business like a brewery or small nano brewery like ours I mean you just have to be ready for checklists and welcome checklists and go alright at least if I have a checklist I know what this government body wants and we can you know take it one at a time knock it on it's all about community involvement these guys are just getting started the community has caught fire behind them already that's our goal to is whatever we start to become more profitable if you want to start to invest in local bike races local running races local charities well there's more steps involved in that but one thing we can be sure of is that this place right here black box Brewing Company and Marquette Michigan play out of the gate in a huge way they're already talking about expanding it's only the beginning we can't wait to come back and check in on these guys and actually actually sit down and and taste some of what I think are going to be some really fantastic beer so keep coming back to happy hour guys for these stories and check in on these guys right here and if they're going to have more things to tell us with the graduate sometimes thank you for being on a happier thank you for coming out up you bet well there for you next time look forward to that that's a nanobrewery excuse me too much fruit
