Please explain how to spray primer and final grit sanding

I'll tack down ready to roll we have our gun we have our filter in there right you always want to filter everything you do and we have our our jar to mix so you know your hands are going to be sticky sometimes I'm just going to put this tack rag back we could probably use this when we're doing our base coat clear coat you know just open it back up and refold it new so you're using an area that wasn't used and this will probably do the whole car you know you could probably do a whole car with this base coat you know between your base coat stages and then throw it out so I already mix this up it was sitting for a couple of months I totally forgot to have this can here of primer and let me get a start quick okay so we got a stir I already stirred this up for about a good 10 minutes you can see that it's all started off now this is a four to one mixture so we have a partner here right open this up quick okay we've got our hardener ready to roll you can see that inside you can see it has a little bit of cake in it that's why you want to stir everything up and a filter everything you know so it's a four to one mixture so I'm just going to eyeball it if you're not comfortable with eyeballing feel free to measure it out with some yogurt cups or just a basic paint cup if you want but it's pretty simple stuff you know four to one means you put for every four cups of primary you put one cup of your activator okay so I'm gonna say probably maybe probably go like a little bit more maybe maybe that much we may use a little bit more let me see let me take a look at these panels here yeah I'll make a little bit more okay so we'll have about that much primer alright I'll cap this off we'll put a quarter of our hardener in here and what I'll do is also add some reducer if it looks a little bit too thick okay which I think you know what this might this may be a little too much so too much primer let's take some out I think that's too much okay so we're about that much just going to add about a quarter of hardener in here it's good mix that up and then now a little bit of black right there until you do sit down and after mixing your primers alright you want to let that sit for about 15 minutes I'll say your chemicals start to react with each other it's called the sitting time now let that react for a little bit it is very thick you could take a look at it here see how kind of slow that drifts we'll probably put about 10% reducer it's not necessary but it starts to spread dry you want to add a little bit of reducer I'm not going to go to money little hair because I still you know I want it thick to film right so let's just see how that looks yeah maybe maybe a little bit more this is very thick stuff okay we're going to roll with this so make sure you strain everything before you put in your paint gun all right excellent so we're going to be laying our first coat of primer on here now I'm probably going to lay about two to three heavy coats of primer on here as you see I'm just laying it on as we go what I'm spraying at is about 20 to 22 pounds of pressure here not too much because you want it to flow on thick and heavy and if you spray primer a thick primer too much of a high PSI it's going to come out dry because it's going to come out so quick it's going to dry and you're not going to get a nice thick wet coat like like you see here so average 18 to 22 psi when spraying thick Eero primer 2 K primer like this that's just about it alright so just watch the way I spray here watch my wrist flow and how I you know get in certain areas I'm just going to go ahead do the front kit to three times and the back kit to three times and we're good to go then we're going to go follow up on cleaning the gun and all that other good stuff if you look under the top part the top-left part of the bumper cover where the light goes you're going to see that you could see like a little dry area that's basically the bondo sucking up the primer you're going to see spots like that all over when you start painting so you just covered it so when you start doing your primer around the first coat you're going to notice all the bondo sucking up the primer so you know once you see that give it another coat alright you wanna you don't want to finish off like that you want to make sure it's all thick and filled up you don't want to see that it's actually good that you see that because you can see where your bondo is basically sucking up the primer and you want to cover that again sorry about the phone but that's that's basically it so here is a sneak peek of the finished product this is how it's going to look when you're done now when it dries it should dry pretty much like a matte color and any other imperfections that you see here like some of the dust or whatever that is that'll all be sanded out all the orange peel everything is going to be completely sanded out flat alright so this is how it's looking we're going to go ahead and give everything this is our first coat by the way we're going to give everything another coat and then clean our gun you all right so cleaning time now this is you know the basic conventional spray gun so we don't have the D cup system from devil bits and all that other good stuff but this is how you clean your cups you just want to throw some lacquer thinner in it immediately after you paint so when I if you noticed when I poured the paint out from my cup I was pulling this trigger right because you want to squeeze the trigger and make sure everything comes out we're just going to throw a little thinner in it mix it up and we're going to repeat the process about two three times then we're going to take the cup off take the nozzle tip off take the needle out the spring everything and soak it in a little bucket a little thing you know you could just soak it for a little while don't worry it's not going to hurt any of the seals or anything just let it soak clean it out good put it back together and sometimes what I like to do is throw a little bit of lacquer thinner in the spray gun to let it sit okay so that's it let's just clean it up quick and then we'll move on to the next video checking out what we've done with the primer seeing how that came out and maybe applying a little bit of glaze putty to our bumper cover where it had maybe a little bit of imperfections all right so I'll see you in the next vid so in case you're wondering I do have other cleaning videos within the course I figured just to include this because we're going through the whole body kit painting series and all that so I said hey let me just include everything here but if you go through the main course we do have tips and tricks on cleaning your guns and all that other good stuff alright so thanks for watching next video we're going to be assessing what we've primed and glazed buddy
