I'm going to show you how to clean and condition a leather steering wheel over time the oil and dirt on your hands gets on your wheel it makes it feel sticky makes the leather actually look shiny and it makes it harder to grip the wheel on it it just feels gross on your hands so today I'm going to use the Chemical Guys leather cleaner it is has no odor and no color and after I clean the wheel I'm going to take off all the dirt and oil and leathers like skin and it has pores like skin and once you remove any dirt and grime from the leather all those pores are going to be exposed so I want to put something on it to help protect it from all the elements like UV sunlight moisture and oil and dirt from my hands or from anything else entering the car so to do that I'm going to use the Chemical Guys leather serum leather serum is sort of like the leather conditioner but this has more UV blocking agents and helps to protect leather against things like liquid stains dirt and oil and things that rub on it so to get started I have a yellow workhorse microfiber towel I'm going to take the leather cleaner I'm going to spray few sprays here on the towel now neither of these products are bad for skin it's just to help get a grip I'm using some gloves but I'm just going to take the cleaner I'm going to really saturate this towel take the cleaner it's kind of pinched around the whole wheel I'm going to scrub and I pull across the top on this car I'm pulling off all the dirt and oil and debris from this wheel and go around the face a little bit more so I like to do that pinch method on the parts of the wheel where there's where it's there's nothing behind it that way I get the front and the back at the same time otherwise you can come in on one side and then do the other behind it important thing is that you scrub off all the dirt and oil that you can and if you can see this I'm starting to pull off a lot of stuff that was on the wheels all of a scray kind of brown stuff in the towel that was all the dirt and oil stuck in the actual wheel which makes it feel really gross so now I have the steering wheel actually clean I took all the dirt and oil out from the leather it feels and looks brand new and this is exactly what I want I don't want the leather to be really shiny or greasy or oily looking like if you go to low end car wash and they spray that stuff all over your dashboard on the inside I don't want any of that I want this string way to look brand new and it looks nice and crisp Oh II am brand new this is the look we want but now I want to help protect the leather string wheel as you see this car has some dark windows that are nice and tinted helps to block out a lot of the UV light the windshield is wide open and lets in a lot of light a lot of sunlight can damage things like leather or plastic vinyl overtime so I want to put some protection on this leather steering wheel to help it resist some UV sunlight so I'm going to go with leather serum from Chemical Guys this is a protective coating for leather that helps there is a sunlight so I'm just going to put a couple little dabs on this microfiber applicator pad I like to use microfiber when I'm spreading any type of a cream eye either a wax or glaze for exterior or leather conditioning products for the inside of the car so I'm actually going to spread it into the applicator pad a little bit so that when I spread it over the leather I don't get any drips or globs messing up and spreading everywhere as you can see I hardly need any out of that whole 16 ounce bottle I just used about a drop and a half maybe two to small drops and that's more than enough to coat this entire steering wheel now that I have the string wheel I'll conditioned I'm just going to take one more microfiber towel this was totally dry and I'm just going to take off any excess now none of our leather care products the leather conditioner or leather serum or the leather cleaner none of these will leave your leather feeling feeling slippery or slick but just because this is a steering wheel has to do a lot with a control of the actual car moving it through space I want to make sure there's no extra residue at all so that when the driver takes the car back they won't have any problems controlling it okay so leather should feel crisp and smooth it should not be greasy or slippery so now this wheel is cleaned and protected it looks brand-new it feels brand new and the protection from the leather serum will actually help keep this wheel from cracking or fading with all
