most of you know how to check the oil level in your lawnmower but do you know how to change it it's not like the old days where you had to prop the mower up on blocks and pull a plug today it's much easier I'll show you how we'll be tilting the mower on its side and we don't want guests to leak out of the cap so put a sandwich bag over the opening and screw on the gas cap set an oil drain pan on the side of the mower near the oil filler tube then tilt the mower so the air filter is pointing up that'll prevent gas from flowing into the air cleaner next remove the dipstick and let all the oil drain out take the oil to a recycling center most lawnmower engines use straight 30-weight detergent oil don't use multi viscosity oil from your car to refill the engine hold the bottle with the spout facing up and pour in about half the bottle then check the level with your dipstick and keep filling until the oil reaches the full line change the oil every 25 hours of use and again in the fall before you store for winter that way you'll have fresh oil for the new mowing season
