Please explain how to tie the bowline knot

so all in all I'd have to say that the bowline is definitely my favorite not just because it's so easy to tie it'll stand up to anything very easy to untie and it's probably one of the most versatile knots out there so to tie this knot let's just take about 3 feet of rope and this is just completely approximation that's just about how much rope you'll need to tie an average-sized bowline and then hold your rope in your hand like this so that you're working in sort of comes off the top and then form a loop like that right you don't want to end up with a loop like that or the working end of your loop is on on the bottom want to make sure your loops like that so that your working end comes off the top of the loop and then take your working end and tuck it up through your loop right down under and around your standing line and then back down through your loop like that and then just kind of meet your working end up with the head of your loop like that and then just pull snug like so and that's about it that's a bowline now the cool thing about this knot is that even if it's being under immense stress it's always pretty easy to untie because you just take your you're standing line push it into the knot just like that and this little kind of flop or loop up here we go back and forth and you can use that to loosen up your knot like so now I'm going to show you a cool abbreviation of the bowline called the bowline on a bite now if you're not already where a Bight is simply a piece of rope like that or it's just kind of doubled up on itself a bit of a loop so anyways to tie this we're going to need about 6 feet of rope about double of what we used before because what this knot gives you is it gives you two loops with one knot I think that's about six feet so what you're going to do is ya count off about six feet of rope and this is one knot where you could use way more weight less depending on what situation you use in this bar and then just double that six feet of rope up to form a big long Bight and they just kind of ignore that you've doubled it up and treat this as one strand of rope and start off time to regular bowline like this form a loop right take your working end pass it up through your loop and instead of going down and around your standing line what we're going to do is open this loop up and pass it over the entire not like that just like that right pull down and then just pull your knot snug like so and as you can see here now we have two loops with one knot just as I promised now you're probably wondering how this is beneficial just as opposed to the regular bowline well let me just hold one of these loops back to simulate a regular bowline and I'll use something like this we've remote here and if somebody asked me to try and tie a knot to pick up this wee remote if I just tried to use a bowline you can see that this is absolutely impossible there's no way I'm going to be able to do this no matter how hard I try it's just not going to work as opposed to with this double looped bow line or the bowline on a bite simply slip one under the loop over either under the Wii Remote and look at that you can pick it up no problem so that's one example of how this knot can be used of course not with the Wii Remote if you were moving logs or something you might need a couple loops so yeah anyways I think that's about it as far as basic bowline techniques go thanks for watching
