boy did it thank you for watching the rebroadcast so today we're gonna mix it up today I'm gonna show you a quick easy way to add shelving to any side cabinet so you can see we have some kitchen cabinets and then on this side there's nothing but we added shelving you could use the shelving for trinkets or you could use it for spice racks or whatever kind of decorations that you want to add and it's quick and easy to do and only takes a couple minutes so thank you all for joining today check out my new shirt back to the future sure we went back too far alright thank you all for joining my name is Ray McGee a home improvement expert and the creator of the Handy homeowner and also i'm on my own construction business so let's get to do today so i'll show you what tools you'll need for today's project put the camera back rack so for today's project you're gonna need you can get one of these little compound saw things that you can get it Lowe's or Home Depot and they're really easy for cutting couple pieces of wood and also you can get this primed FJ board at Lowe's or Home Depot and it's already primed and good to go so if you have white cabinets it's easy to do my shelving is about two and a half inches so this is about an inch and a half blood just to give you an example and also the average width of a cabinet panel is about half an inch so you can see I have inch and five-eighths crews so this will go through the panel in the back and it will hold everything together and also today you'll meet a 5 30 seconds drill bit this will help it so the screw pulls the Shelf tight and it doesn't get hung up on the cabinet itself and then also you'll need a phillips-head tip for this project and also you can get one of these baby little tape measures so they're nice cute and awesome you can usually measure what you need so today we solved the shelving about last week or so pretty awesome about it so what you're gonna want to do is I could show you back on this one this cabinet right here you can see this is my shelf and then I just pre drilled into here three holes and then I just put my screws in there and then this holds the Shelf nice and sturdy so a good way to do it is you'll take your you're going to take your tape measure and then you're going to pick your distance of what you want your spices to be apart and then afterwards you can mark the bottom line of where you want your shelf the beat and remember this lines straight you can use this to pull all your lines to make sure all your your shelves are level the whole way up to the top so afterwards you'll get yourself on here and then you're going to want to pre-drill the back of it and it's also helpful to hold the shelf up here at the same time while you're drilling so that way you get a template of your screw and then you don't want to drill down too far you want to get about a quarter inch into the next board and then you're going to want to let the screw do the rest of the work so afterwards you'll have a nice little trinket shelf and it's easy pretty easy to do I did this in about 15 minutes so and also key thing to remember here is a lot of cabinets this comes out about a quarter of an inch so you're probably want to stop your shelving out here or else you'll have a gap whenever you go to screw everything together or the other option is you can notch out that little piece so that way you could take the shelf to the end but I like the finished look of the Shelby when it stops to the edge so all I did was take those pieces and then I cut my distance and then I attach them already so thank you all for joining and happy new year I hope this helps you on your necks spice rack adventure and if you like this you can also go to burn McGee TV and also you can check out my quadcopter video it's up top five thousand views on facebook yeah show wide view maybe I don't want to maybe I didn't clean Steve let's see their wide view oh alright so thank you all for joining and I will see you soon I know the shelves are so easy and it wasn't like oh we did all this wasted space you see all those ideas we should just put shelves on all that stuff thank you for joining and I will see you guys soon next year oh yeah so thank you all for joining and I will see you maybe tomorrow maybe tomorrow we'll do a home improvement tip so I will see you guys later and thank you all for joining and thank you for the hearts it's a happy new year and we'll see you next time we couldn't figure out which way to look at the camera holding the camera this way confuse me Twista wouldn't alright see you guys
