hey guys Joshua Peterson with Peterson electric here today on a video that explains how do I get my switched receptacle from here to here to actually get a light up above instead this vault would have had a 1/2 hot so from that switch the wire went up through the attic and over and what I simply did is found that late nature it was off cut it pulled it back in then that gave me my neutral by over here allowing the white to come off of the hot and go to the neutral and then the black not to be a switch lay and using the black as a hot under the wire nut and then replacing the receptacle or jumper in the terminal so that way one of them is not dead because it's kind of like a dishwasher disposal one top of the dishwasher plugged in the disposals waiting for a switch to tell it to turn on no different than a lamp once I was up here I had to make a junction across and once I did make sure your junction box in the attic is up above I do wear suit that's that old wool insulation from the 60s they even had an arm still that you know it's like the worst up there is make sure J boxes are labeled above the insulation and it says 120 volt no neutral now if I had simply pulled from here a 14-3 over I could have added a pull chain because then I had neutral do not use your ground as a neutral though you can complete that circuit turn on a light bulb you're not supposed to carry current on the equipment grounding EGC conductor which is going to be in residential your Barenaked it's going to be in commercial or in other situations just a green so do not use that as a path because if you go to put an artful in later it will not set and somebody will be taking everything out in that circuit to figure out what happened and then you'll have to repol it anyways again from here going back up with the switch leg you have to identify that your neutral we are white is really going to be now your and you have to color black or red or whatever but it has to be identified or according to article 200 as a hot conductor you cannot use a neutral as a switch light once you come back up you're going to have your red your black going down your blog your red is your hot of your black is your switch leg your neutrals finally up here and then you tie your hot to your red going down and then your switch leg to your pigtail on your black and your white to your neutral coming down and that's it there's no drywall damage there is an attic above here I could get in there some homes you cannot do that you will have drywall damaged in that scenario and popcorn will have to be fixed and we're putting three four inch holes across the ceiling in order to drill through the studs especially if it's down below the living room and you have a bedroom or bathroom above anyways thanks for joining us hopefully that helped you out
