you can get these stone chisel sets usually from one inch to about three and a half inches i've beat the heck out of this one they're pretty tough i've never sharpened it but it gets the job done you don't really need it sharp it just needs to be sharper than blunt so i would definitely suggest wearing some glasses because this splashes quite a bit of stone at you and if you've not done it i'd start slow the first couple and what you're basically going to do is trace a line so i want same width i put on the front there on the back so we'll give it about the same amount of distance because it's going to be split there's going to be an angle here coming out so it's going to face this way so i need my cut to be pretty much mirrored on the top and the bottom and i'm gonna do this trace the whole brick around the whole brick a few times until i start getting a channel i imagine they make some bigger chisels i think this is the biggest size so i'm gonna go ahead and split this for you real quick i'm basically going to trace me a line all the way around this brick in a form of fault in it basically so but until i get a pretty good little line it i don't want to start hitting real hard because it'll break randomly in a lot of different areas and there is an edge on this as you can see one side splits out and typically the part you're wanting to bust off you want your straight side going against the part you want to stay in your slanted side going towards the way out because it typically wedges and push out so as you're making your lines you'll notice that'll happen okay i start i gotta line up all my lines all the way around the brick you dig your little channel you'll feel the grooves in it that you're digging out one good thing about these big bricks is they're not solid they're pretty much hollow in the middle so unless you want to break it right in half you break it right in half it's a little harder you've got to go through this whole middle area as long as you're not breaking it completely in half you're okay though all right i got my line pretty much now working your little grooves for a while as you can see that split side broke off on this side that's usually what happens i said side with the the angle typically break away first this process can take a while brakes are about six dollars each so i don't like to waste too many of them trying to break them i like to get them right the first time and usually if i cut them right i can get a cut for both sides out of one brick but depending if it's a random length you're not always going to have that hat a lot of times we're just going to end up with random sizes and this is going to be the top of my stone i like to get this line right first because i want the top to split nicer than the bottom or more concerned about the top splitting straight than the bottom the bottom doesn't split straight i don't see it as much getting closer my line's getting pretty pretty good a little harder now but i don't want to split prematurely there you go see the fault it cracked i mean and that's how you're going to basically split this up i might have to clean it up if it doesn't fit on me 100 but we'll see i'll go ahead and knock that and break that chest chip off of there same thing this one because they're going to cause me to have unsmooth edges all right focus see if it fits it fits it fits
