and so now I'm going to collect my water prints and put them in storage so as you see here I have my face mask and my latex gloves I'm going to put those on to eliminate anything on my skin or anything I'm breathing to contaminate my so whatever you're dealing with these guys you're going to want to be as clean as possible now if you don't have all the alcohol rubbing gels or all the special cleaning supplies you know the copper air rooms I have the filters or you know it doesn't have to be perfect you just want it to be as clean as you can get and remember you know if you're doing this at home like I am I don't have everything I'm not a mycologist so remember just this is just for learning educational purposes only and this is just to see if you can do it now you don't have to go out and buy all these rubbing alcohol and all this other extra stuff if you want to then that's more for you and they'll help you in your progress but it's not completely needed at the moment now if you were a mycologist or if you were a commercial seller and someone who sold mushrooms commercially or Ayana like a farmers market or somewhere then I would definitely recommend having all the alcohol rubbing gels and oils and all the everything you need to be sterile and having a clean room now I'm in my bedroom right now so I don't have a laboratory I don't have a basement I don't have an exact perfect setup that I would like to have so just remember to make do with what you have it's not as a big deal as long as you just keep it as clean and hot as possible now in my last video here you know that I put my caps in there and I've jars on top of them now what you didn't see me do in my last video was I put that sheet aluminum foil around it and I just kind of crinkled up the edges around here as you can see I did that to prevent any extra contamination or any extra spores for falling into my score prints because even though the caps are covered the index cards are completely covered so I did that and it's caught a little extra flowy things the hair and the air that I can see like little mini hairs and little dust you can't see in the video but you I can see perfectly in real life I'm gonna shine a light on it so you can kind of see on here like there's the hair kind of see right there dust see it you know just things like that you do not want it getting into your spore print because those can be contaminations that could end up killing your scores after you knock you ate them into your fruiting substrate so I'm just going to open it up and you're just gonna be as careful as possible remember take your time don't rush anything cuz you do not want to get those jars over or move any position as you can see I'm just kind of wrapping unwrapping this off not forcing anything it's just coming up nicely now if it's really tight on there then that just means you did a good job take your time if you have to cut it off you know less contamination is possible and see I didn't just pick it up I pulled it on two officers I'm just going to throw it up throw it away okay now I have my jars on top of my small caps and you can see the index cards see what I did here now I'm going to be storing my spore prints inside of this index card storage container and it's not a next card it's a filing cabinet type thing so you open it up files there's a tab says oyster mushrooms gonna be putting my oyster mushrooms in this first tab now what I'm going to do is I'm going to take a ziplock bag like so now the brand Ziploc this is the brand Ziploc they do a very good job at sterilizing all their bags before they're sold out commercially before you buy them at the store you're already airtight there's no contains so I have a handful of them right here and I'm just going to inspect them pick the one that I feel will be the best these remember you don't want to rush into this you want to take your time you want to select everything carefully now just to have a little extra support and make sure it's going to be more as clean as possible I'm just going to wipe it down wipe it down thoroughly and I took my time it took me a couple of minutes you see little soapy trails for my wet wipes that's fine just let it dry so I'm gonna set it my little bin here and whenever you're picking your specimen that you want to support take this for Fred just I have a couple here I'm just going to select it seemed to pick the jar up I'm just gonna slide the note card into the Ziploc baggie now remember make sure you do not leave the cap in the bag make sure you discard the cap before you take the spore print and put it into storage so I'm just going to pick this jar up you see here have my oyster caps I'm just going to gently pick it up like so okay I just took this for Brent and it is inside the Ziploc baggie now remember do not force the no Carter index card whatever you're using to capture the spoiler print not force it into your the baggie you're going to use do not reverse it never force it you can lose spores and you can risk contamination because you'll leave it exposed too long you see here I just sealed the ziplock very carefully I made sure there's no air so there's a perfect for print now whenever you are keeping spores like this you're going to want to make sure that you keep them at room temperature and that you're going to be using them within a year and because if you keep these like this at room temperature for about a year they'll be perfect but anything after that you're risking it and the spores might not be able to inoculate anymore because they'll be either too dried out too damaged or etc but if you're storing these into a refrigerator until you're ready to bring them back out that's perfect you can have them refrigerator for as long as you want now I'm just going to drop my sword print in there and I'm going to be taking more spore print so I'm going to shut this for now remember you want to keep everything organized and labeled and with these guys these guys are wild mushrooms I pulled them out of my yard I thought it'd be cool to spore print them I'm still trying to figure out the species but I figured it'd just be cool down a library so that if I find any uses for them I'm I think they're little poisonous but I might try to figure out some kind of gardening you slipped on because mushrooms promote gardening and growth of other plants a lot and just something to mess around with I'm a student I'm just learning this stuff I'm interested in it so that's what I'm going to be doing and I'm just going to be doing the same thing with these guys after actually identified the species I'm going to just put another tab up here in this next folder and I'm going to print out a couple pictures of them with the Latin name and then I'm just gonna put them all and they're just for printed this cap well I pulled out the spore print and then I bagged it now you see this one's purely black date oysters were the scores for white so again make sure take your time don't rush now these ziplocs sometimes the corners will get bent like these edges edging will get kind of been and don't and if that happens while you're putting your index card or whatever you're using don't force it don't shove it around you know you want to try to keep it as smooth as possible as smooth clean as possible take your time don't rush anything you never want to rush with this stuff again you can see the spore print perfectly so I'm just going to take my friend and I'm just going to pull it over gently you know it's not gonna be perfect but it's going to be perfect enough just lay in this folder weigh it in there like that like so okay I just collected all my score prints see here the black black lizard the wild ones these three they're there and they're there always stirs you know if you can see under the light you can see the texture that texture is good it means that those are spores and remember you don't want to play with them you don't want to rub your finger and I'm just try not to shake them or disturb them as much as possible while you're transporting them into your ziplock baggies this was a really good one kind of see all that texture and all those little formations really good one that's perfect same here these two were perfect and remember this you wanna whenever you're taking spore prints you want to wait here for your caps to settle down and sit on wherever you have them and whatever they're on top of the collective scores you want to wait a good 24 to 36 hours I waited 26 hours and I'm sorry I meant 24 to 36 hours I waited 26 hours and I've got perfect results so now I'm just going to put them in their correct spot in my filing system remember if you're doing something like I'm doing where you're filing them don't be afraid to move them around a little bit try not to disturb them and wherever you have a spore print you know try to keep it in one spot as possible trying to have to put too much pressure on them and try to keep the spores condensed to wherever you add them because it'll be easier for inoculation later all right so if you liked my video on how to store your sport prints then check out my other videos on my channel for more information about mushroom cultivation and go to my website link will be in the description and go don't forget to check out my blog you know I have time lapse of my monstrous growth through pictures and it's barely condensed it as my updates and all everything I'm doing but with my mushrooms and it has all my future announcements and all my future posts coming up
