you you hello Dan Giles with let's fix it project is to replace a ballast when a tube all fluorescent light fixture I'll show you step by steps on removing the old ballast installing the new ballast also what to do with all these wires and also what tools to use in this process so let's get started yeah first thing we're going to do is prep the new ballast we'll go ahead and strip back off the wire insulation off of these wires these are going to give you a very quick splicing tool here and use these little push in wire connectors this particular t8 these can be purchased at any electrical supply house and they just simply push in the slot this is gonna make replacing this ballast so much quicker than using wire nuts it's a lot cleaner job and the next step will show you how we install this you all right guess what we got we've got two red wires two blue wires coming off of the old ballast also a seven yellow wires and we have our hot peg and our neutral and what we're gonna do now is cut the yellow is in the red line and the blue lines and pull out the old ballast will replace that with a new one and then we'll go step by step on the wiring all right as you can see this particular projects not too difficult few little easy steps to take it and you'll just breeze right through the one thing I do want to be clear on is before you start this project make sure that the power is off the light fixture either by the switch or the breaker you don't to be on that ladder and get surprised by that 110 volts it could make you lose your step on the ladder and fall down it's very dangerous be sure the power is off
