Please explain how to make david eyre's pancake - a recipe from the essential new york times cookbook

hi my name's Amanda Hesser and I'm the author of the essential New York Times cookbook and today we're gonna make David errors pancake which is a recipe that was printed in The Times in 1966 and an article if I create Claiborne and the thing that's great about this pancake is that it's oven baked super easy to make you mix it up and it's also known as a German pancake or sometimes it's called a Dutch baby so let's get going there the ingredients are extremely simple there's flour there's milk there's nutmeg there are eggs butter lemon and confectioners sugar you don't even have to do it in a particular order you just kind of dump everything in to the bowl so then you just use a whisk to mix it up it's kind of this nice loose batter there we go so now we're gonna head over to the stove I like to use a cast-iron skillet with a nice kind of rounded edge and we want to set it over medium heat basically you just want to get this warm so that it'll melt some butter now the butter has melted and I'm gonna pour in the batter and then I'm just going to transfer it to a very hot 425-degree oven so here it is it has grown up out of its pan and now I have to move pretty quickly squeeze a little lemon juice on top and then you just cover it with confectioners sugar and call everyone to the table and there you go and I'm gonna dive in right now as you can see it's super thin and delicate and it's delicious and this is just one of more than a thousand recipes from that from appetizers to soups to desserts that are in the essential New York Times cookbook and I hope you'll pick it up and I hope you'll get in the kitchen and have fun and enjoy
