hi this map with appliance parts pros calm today we'll be showing you how to repair your appliance remember anytime you work on an appliance make sure it's unplugged or the circuit breakers are off so there's no chance of electrocution also make sure you turn off your hot and cold water supplies in this video we're going to show you how to change out the Frigidaire washer agitator it's going to be a very easy repair and should only take a few minutes to show you how to do it if you already have one of these great if not you can click on the link below or get at appliance parts pros comm when you open up the package you're going to get the new agitator the agitator is located inside the washer and it's what educates the clothes during the wash cycle the main reason being it out is that the top half is failed and it's not agitating properly or the bottom half is cracked where the spline attaches to the transmission in order to get to the part we have to open up the washer lid once you have the lid open you can take the fabric softener off of the agitator all you have to do is grab it and lift up on it and it should unsnap so you can pull it out once you have the fabric softener out of the way we have to take this cover off it's in there kind of tight from all the fabric softener over the years so we're going to reach in with the pliers and pull it out once you have it out you can set it aside another way of the cover out of the way we can reach in with our half-inch socket and ratchet to take out the bolt that holds the agitator down you may have to reach down inside the washer and hold the agitator fins because as you loosen it it's going to try to spin the whole assembly once you have it broke free you can let go of the bottom half shove the bolt all the way loose you can reach in and take it out now we can lift the agitator out if yours has been in there for a while and it's jammed in there with soap scum you may have to pull on it pretty hard but all you have to do is grab it and lift up once you have that shader route now is your chance to clean everything up down in here before you put the new agitator back in here's the old agitator next to the new one if you already have one of these great if not you can get it at appliance parts pros com2 put the new agitator in all you have to do is lower down on to the transmission shaft once you get it down all the way you may have to turn it so it lines up with the splines and drops down the rest of the way once you have it all the way down we can put the bolt back in when we took the bolt out we notice there was some thread sealer on here it wasn't the red type because we were able to get it out so we're just going to put some blue thread sealer on it before we put it back in once you have it coated we can drop the bolt back in place and use the half-inch socket with the ratchet to tighten it down just like when we took it out you may have to reach down to the bottom and hold the agitator play tighten down the bolt once you have it tightened down then we can put the dust cover back on to put the cover in all you have to do is drop it down into place and snap it down evenly inside the agitator once you have the cover down all the way you want to spin the agitator around and make sure you can see all four openings and that they're evenly sized so you know you have the color in there and it's even now we can put the fabric dispenser back in there's tabs on the fabric dispenser that you have to line up with the notches on the agitator once you have them lined up all you have to do is push it down into place so it locks in once you have the fabric dispenser pushed back in place you can close the washer lid plug it back in turn the water back on and take a first spin thanks for joining us for another successful repair brought to you by appliance parts pros comm check out our other repair videos on our site Facebook and YouTube
