Please explain how to string a ukulele (quick and simple) [hix bros. music]

hi man today we're going to learn how to change strings on the oak alele first thing you want to have some tools handy peg winder cutters strings a tuner a place to put the ukulele oh - you know a little thing to hold it or have a friend help you or a couch or a workbench or something first thing take the strings off one of two ways either use your peg winder take it off the long tedious way the other way might be to take a pair of cutters and just cut them hold your hand over it like so so you don't hit yourself in the head okay so we just look up unwrap and pull the old string off pull the strings off the top if you want to clean the fretboard a really great way to clean the fretboard is to get some four ought steel wool and go up and down the fretboard like this that will get all the dirt off and polish the frets I'm not going to do that because I don't want to and then after you do that you take some of this number 65 Dunlop what's it on there rub it in with a paper towel and let it dry a little bit and you're ready to restring fourth string there's a little hole here feed the string through the hole pull it through pull it around one time and under hold the left side of your string tight and you'll have a little tail pull the string this way now this is where it gets a little tricky take the string hold it with one hand by the peg the other hand by the nut pull the string down three frets and cut it with your cutters take the string stick it in the hole put a little bend in it peg winder start wrapping I like to go back over the string where it went in the hole so that it holds it in place wind it until it gets to well - you're about to pitch so that's 2 - a G and I'm ready to do the next string ok all right take your third string out same procedure however you can go the other direction if you want so that all the little tails go this way and they wrap over each other some people like to do that I like to do it this way I changed my strings a lot loop around under hold it pull it it's tight good here this ring down string is here one hand by the peg one by the nut pull it down three cut string goes back in the hole okay put a little little kink in it like so so it holds grab your peg winder wrap go back over the string under keep tightening GC pull on the string hold it with you one hand pull up on the string here give it a bit of a stretch there's two string number three which would be our second string this is a little different you tie it the same way on the end but this one I usually do a couple reps pull it tight okay I put the string through I'm going to wrap this one a little bit different it's a little more takes a little more effort because the string is is going to be loose because it doesn't it doesn't have any friction because it's not a wrap string it's a plain smooth nylon string these are cold law strings from Oahu and I like them a lot pull in a little bit we call these side cutters sometimes come close to the peg give it a snip one more string wrap it two times one under hold on to the end pull the string tight there you go get your string ready and if I'm not going to cut it by the way I measure off at the 12th fret and that kind of tells me how much string I'm going to need okay and I take my peg winder it's a hand drill portable battery-powered drill you get this peg winder that fits in the Chuck here like so my powered peg winder and I do the same thing except it helps if you got a variable speed okay get it ready grab your chiller pulling the strings again of course retune your uke a million times because they stretch for a while that sounds good you
