hey guys it's melanie and today i have a perfect summer project i'm going to show you how to cut your jeans to make them shorts instead of pants um i live in hawaii and i am in need of some new shorts so i've got these jeans that have a hole and they fit really good but i'm ready to turn them into shorts so i'm going to show you how okay so what you want to do is lay your jeans flat on the floor now these are a curvy fit so it's going to be the front is going to be down below the back so what i'm saying is like make sure that it's nice and flat on the floor don't line up the waistband to make the waistband even all the way across so you're going to lay it flat these jeans have a hole in them and the seam is about to split so these are the perfect candidate to be cut because they fit really well they're comfortable and so i definitely want to keep wearing them so you want to have a ruler and measure kind of down from the inseam how long you want it to be i'm gonna have mine be about five inches because that way it's not too short you wanna give yourself room if the bottoms begin to fray off in the wash that they're not going to be too short after you wash them a few times so i've marked down my five inches take a pen doesn't really matter you're gonna be cutting along that line gonna mark it i know where to go and then take your ruler and you're going to cut it straight across in the same line as the bottom of the jeans so that's kind of what's going to be your guide so that you know their your seam or your the bottom of your shorts isn't going to be wonky okay so you're going to make a straight line use your pen make a line and then get some fabric scissors your craft scissors are not really going to work that well and cut all right then you're going to come over here five inches down mark then keeping in the same line as the hem of your jeans that's how you're gonna make your line across make your line fabric scissors cut and that's it i'll go try these on so that you have an idea of how they look okay so now we have our shorts cut they're even all the way around these jeans are so comfortable and i'm really excited that now i get to wear them summer so i'm sure you have some jeans in your wardrobe that you need to cut and you have some great cutoffs for summertime and pull on the ends if you want to have that frayed look rather than that fresh cut kind of look or throw them in the wash they'll be afraid when you pull them out so you know add a little white tank top and some fun accessories and you're ready for summer bye guys thanks for watching
