Please explain how to do a lunge | gym workout

Hi guys. This is Max Tapper again for Howcast, and
today, I'm going to show you guys how to do a lunge. Now, a lunge is my favorite exercise for the
body, because it targets all the leg muscles, and it targets one side at a time. Basically, it'll show you what side of your
body is weak, and it'll help you bring that side up to match the stronger side. All right? So, let me show you how this works. What we're going to do is step forward and
out on our dominant leg. You can choose whichever one you want, but
it becomes this. Now, you always want to make sure that your
knee is not going past your toe, and then we'll come back up. So, as we step out, we're going into our lunge. Heel strike. Down. We have 90 degrees here, or close to, then
back up. There, and down. Now, there's many different variations of
a lunge. We could do them with dumbbells, we can do
them out to the side. We can also do reverse lunges, which is something
that I love. I find it as effective, if not more effective,
and it also takes away a lot of the shearing force in the knee so there's less of a problem. So guys, get out there. Lunges are an excellent, excellent, excellent
leg work out to do. You get a lot of definite results, but be
safe, controlled, and effective. Have a good time.
