Please explain how to make a wax resist birthday card 🎂

today we're creating this wax resist birthday card to get started you'll need to cut a light colored heavyweight paper into five inch by three and three-quarter inch size next take a white color pencil or even a white crayon if you don't have a colored pencil and just write out the words that you want to write on the card so in this case I'm writing a happy birthday in cursive now I know you can't see what I'm writing but the key here is to get at an angle that you can see the words as you're writing them and see what I tip the paper you can tend to see them and now I'm writing birthday you can see the word here the next step is to go through and thicken all the down strokes this will give it a calligraphy look so just go through each word and think about how you write the letter in on the areas that you're drawing downwards thick and those up and you want to make sure that you're pressing pretty hard and covering the paper pretty well this is what creates the wax resist effect so it ends up looking like this next take a paint brush in some water and go over the entire paper and the words will look like they magically appeared just like this I'm using a Pentel Aquash brush enlarge but you can just use a regular paintbrush if you'd like once the paper is completely covered in water you can go ahead and add in your watercolors and once you're happy with how that looks go ahead and set it aside until it's mostly dry then take a damp paper towel or a damp cotton swab and just carefully go over each letter and this will pick up the paint that stuck to them and they will appear brighter after this so at this point it should look like this you may want to place it under a heavy book to make it more flat before the next step so for the next step you'll need to cut in eight and a half by five and a half piece of paper and I chose to use a color that coordinated with the card and then you're just going to take that and carefully fold it in half and then using the pencil to score it so it looks like this then decide where you want to place the happy birthday paper and you can use a glue stick or hot glue and just put it all over the back and then carefully put it in place and this is a good time to put a heavy book on it again while it dries to keep everything stuck together and when you're finished it looks like this that's it thank you so much for watching I hope you enjoyed this Beck's resist birthday card and I hope you have a great day
