Please explain how to peel citrus for canning

good morning okay i know some people are interested in canning some citrus fruit i'm not going to be canning this but i just wanted to show you a little something about how to get this orange peeled and get the segment's out without having any of the white pith or using an enzyme to get get them off get that pit off I hope my lives are going to be sharpened up here cut off the end let's cut off the other end then we'll stand it up this is better with a really sharp knife I'll tell you you just go down around the outside of it let me turn this this way just cut down around the outside of it peel it down you want to cut away all the peeling so you're getting underneath and I want very much behind there's not much to worry about and if you want to if you washed your orange ahead of time what you should do you can candy all these scraps my candied orange peel out of them and then dehydrate data or put it in your freezer let's follow the curve of the orange around this will work for grapefruits and oranges lemons whenever x citrus you're trying to use for your in your canning recipe there is a recipe for a canning oranges orange slices and grapefruit see there's a little bit left so work that off like I said it really short not the filet knife could be really good for this okay now I've got all the peeling and the outside piss off someone try it like this now slide the knife down by the segment separator that wolf membrane on each side of the segment then pop that segment out and after that you can pretty much just go to the center turn your knife back up go around then you have the appeal or the segment membrane comes with it just remove it that's another reason for a bit short guy so you really get them in there so that way you have some nice these I'll finish these in a second but that way you have segments that are free of all will piss these will stay together right in Canning then you don't have to worry about any bitterness coming from these from the white part of the orange what part is for effective but if you're just canting sliced slices you don't really are segments you don't really want that there's some of them I want to eat this orange for breakfast and I thought well why alone I would normally just cut it up I'm just um do it this way and do a little demonstration thanks for watching
