how to shoot a slingshot for beginners right now on dollars may Korea miss you [Applause] want to learn how to shoot a slingshot accurately maybe you've had a wrist rocket in the past you have special memories of it if you do have one don't try to shoot this thing again unless you get some flat bands for it tubes are inaccurate they're harder to learn how to be good with it it's possible but it's gonna frustrate you the best bet is a flat band right here and you can get them on our website you can either get the bands or you can get slingshots that have flat bands with them they are so much more accurate the more snappy the elastic the thinner it is the more accurate it'll be the thinner it is the shorter it will last you can get anywhere from 5 shots out of a piece of elastic at times to 5000 shots it's a pain in the neck sometimes but it's the price you pay for accurate seat some over-the-top got different grips got all kinds of stuff going on but today we're gonna focus on is simply bringing it up aiming down your bands and becoming moderately accurate with it within a couple of minutes check out the how to shoot a slingshot playlist here on YouTube for more videos in this series that'll help you get going with your slingshot shooting and for even more information on how to shoot a slingshot you can find it in Fowler's maker e in mischief comm on or how to shoot a slingshot page first off the axiom ocularis this one can shoot through the forks or over the top through the forks is going to be the quickest way to become accurate with a slingshot which means you're shooting like this with the bands wrapping around the outside if it was over the top they would come over the top like this always shooting with your bands wrapped over the top of the slingshot if it's over the top and wrapped around the sides of the slingshot if it's through the forks you never pulled directly on the fastened point of the band's always before you start shooting check your bands to for nicks and scratches breaks where they might snap and hit you in the face when you go to shoot them so right now set up through the forks and very simply hold up your slingshot like so take your piece of ammo between your thumb index finger place it into the pouch pressing down on it with your index finger pinch it between your thumb and second finger and then bring your index finger around like so and your pinching just the ammo now the key to doing a good shot right from the beginning is your ammo pinch you want to pinch it between your thumb and your index finger so that your pinching just the ammo you never want to pinch in front of the ammo like this because when you release it'll jump out over your finger bone boom like this causing it to fly off wildly and hit other things you do not intend to hit every so often you may get a frame hit I've charted out the danger zone for right-handed and left-handed shooters on this chart and the horizontal plane in this chart and the vertical plane keep important things clear that friends cars anything breakable that you don't want to be putting holes in to clear in your shooting range you want your shooting stance to be with your toes in line down there to the target if you're like this your feet may bring your aim off to the right or to the left depending on how it goes toes in line of the target nice and loose at the knees for safety's sake you should always wear safety glasses I'm not trying to make light of the safety glasses thing it's just I've made a hundred videos where I'm not wearing safety glasses so what would be the point in putting them on now for you so remember I did tell you to wear safety glasses if you end up shooting your eye out it's your own damn fault so now you got your shooting range set you know what your how to do your load drop it in pinch it bring your index finger around you have a clean pinch just on the ammo back by your knuckle not up by the tips of your fingers a lot of people when they first start shooting and start pinching and pulling like this you're not gonna have as much strength you're not gonna be able to release it accurately you want to be right here right in there whether you're pinch on just the ammo now to draw I recommend that you always bring your slingshot down push it down and away from you like so into your draw that way if your bands were ever to break that they snap right now so they snap down and away if you prematurely have sweaty hands and you release your ammo it shoots down and away just like any father firearm or weapon like that you're pointing away from your friends or raise from yourself away from anywhere of danger you do it drop down it away and bring the slingshot up onto your target you don't want to find an anchor point on your cheek and you don't want to bring your eye down on to the band and sight down the bands right down the center of the bands placing your target right here you want your sight picture to look like this when you're lining up your shot on the target be sure to bring your dominant eye over the band's and line it up directly with the end of the sling shot this is a bit of an exaggeration but if you're properly aligned you won't see the bottom band when you're siting down the top and keeping the slingshot plumb will provide you with accuracy in the vertical plane very quickly after which it'll just be a small matter of adjusting your anchor point up and down where you're locking it in and/or your sight window at different distances to provide that accuracy in the horizontal plane that you're looking for well that in a lot of practice also a great trick to practicing your reloading always like this is the pouch sometimes comes back a little messed up you're bringing in your ammo rub your hand against the band and if you do it really quickly it flips the pouch back to the right position again for you from this angle and then you're reloading without having to take your hand and unwind the pouch with ammo into the pouch get your pinch nice and clean just on the ammo it may take a little bit to build up enough strength to be able to pinch just the ammo but the further back you do that towards your knuckle instead of out towards the tip of their finger the stronger you'll be other things to pay attention to while you're shooting is your position of your back arm bringing it up you can raise and lower your aim and change your position and become more accurate by choosing where you're gonna lock on your cheek and your back arm if it's in line in a nice and straight position economically your pinch is gonna be in a lot straighter position and you'll get a little a lot better release as you start out you may find that a mning through one eye and things like that is frustrating the best way to zero in though is a piece of cardboard because you can see what's happening instead of just a little spinner or something it's a good pinch with a smooth release sighting and alignment will help you hit the target but when it comes to mastery its focus that's most important it's very easy to miss something like a soda can multiple times when you're aiming at the whole object you need a narrow focus aim at a specific point like the letter e when I aim at a target I mentally zoom in like a camera zoom on the exact center of the target where the atom resides that I intend to split with that shot if you get frustrated don't let it get to you switch to instinctive shooting which will be the same thing you're gonna use your same anchor point but at this point you're just going to open both of your eyes and you focus really hard on where you want to hit some days you'll be more accurate that than shooting with one eye closed nowadays I shoot with both eyes open but I practiced for over a year by siting down the bands with one eye closed and becoming accurate enough to hit a match but now I shoot instinctively and it's better to practice both ways so you learn the muscle memory of practice consistency first by aiming down the band's with one eye closed and then switching to instinctively as your muscle memory takes takes hold and your positions and things are locked in and solid additionally you may find it comfortable to push the slingshot at the target allowing it to pull the ammo out of your backhand as it starts to pull on the ammo allow that to be yanked free as a follow through the follow-through helps because a lot of times when you start to miss you go and drop your hands down and you actually are anticipating the miss and bringing yourself away so either holding still after your shot and counting to one or by pushing forward with the slingshot as if you're pushing it into the target even though it's thirty feet away or whatever distance you're gonna hold it up and push it towards the target for the most part all of that is the same even for over the top the checking your band beforehand with a clean pinch against your knuckle on just the ammo not behind the bone of the finger so that it's jumping your finger or jumping your thumb and then drawing down and away from you and bringing it up to your cheek and sighting down the band's with one eye close and let her rip now I have a hard time not shooting with an active flip at the end of every shot I always kind of push it and let it as soon as I start to feel that push with my front hand I let go back here and drive her into the target you can probably become more accurate a lot quicker if you simply sight down your and hold still and count to 1 after you're released you're shot smoothly if you follow me you're like he doesn't shoot that way but I did for the first year and a half now for the last year I've been shooting almost a full butterfly like a 95% butterfly I pinched down here because my speed shooting allows me to pinch here and not have to change my grip at all do not start out that way follow what I said in the video and you'll be hitting you'll be hitting three out of five shots at 30 feet in no time whatsoever this is how I shoot now it took a long time to get this way there's no anchor point there's no reference it's all practice and building muscle memory almost an hour practice a day at times and it just takes patience and a lot of work to become accurate like this we'll talk about that in another video it's a whole nother concept you really need to learn the basics and consistency the the way we've talked about it earlier first thank you guys for watching I'll see you guys next time
