Please explain how to make a booklet with a short stapler

hey everybody its Amy Robinson from Amy Robinson comm today I'm going to show you a fun little way to make notebooks that staple in the middle even if your stapler is too short to reach so stay tuned and I'll tell you all about how to do that it's super simple and when you see it you'll think oh duh because that's exactly what I thought when I learn how to do this okay this summer my kids and I we have been checking off our summer bucket list with these little pins then I made using a button maker and I'll put a link to that in the description below if you would like to buy one of those and make little buttons or for a cheaper version you can print them off as stickers and just use them in this little journal that we're going to make today and your kids can put the sticker on maybe older kids can write about their experience younger kids could just draw a picture anyway there's 35 different activities that come in the set let's go ahead and get started all you need to make this simple little journal is a pattern paper for your cover of your journal just some computer text wait paper for the inside a paper cutter and score some cardboard a stapler of any length and some little twine if you want to tie it up the first thing you're going to do is cut and score your paper for your journal so I've cut this down to eight inches wide by five and a half inches high so that when I fold it it will be 4 inches wide by five and a half inches high now when I fold my paper I always like to score it first just so you don't get kind of that paper cracking along the same and it just gives it a nicer look if you score it so all I have to do to score it because it is eight inches wide I just move this over to the four because that is the measurement of half of eight I'm going to take my little bone folder my square right here and I'm just going to hold this in place and just slide this light it right along the groove you don't need to push too hard I'm just doing a light pressure and just going a couple times to make sure it got even and you just pull it out and you'll feel like a little indent right there I don't know if you can see it at all and then you just fold it in half and you don't get any of that cracking along the scene now you're just going to go ahead and fold all of these papers in half I don't bother scoring these because they're on the inside and they're not printed so doesn't crack so I'm just going to go ahead and fold these in half and I did cut these ones about 1/4 up out of yeah about 1/4 inch shorter than this length so that when you fold it in half and stick it in your book then it doesn't stick out the side our next step is to take your stapler and you're going to just open all the way up like this you've got your papers inside of each other so you're just going to get them so that their seams line up they're nice and tight right okay here's our cardboard what we're going to do is flip this over you want to make sure that everything's all your papers stayed lined up in the seam lay it flat take your stapler just line it up with that seam press down you're going to lift it up and flip it over and just type these in there you have it it's stapled I'm going to do it again down here I like to do one at a time and then flip it over tuck those in before I do the other ones just to kind of keep everything secure and lock down okay and then oh got a little crazy with that one and now you can see when I fold it and set it down it still kind of pops up I mean if you keep going like this a bunch it won't but if that bothers you or you want to add a little something extra just go ahead and put a little bit of twine in there push down like so so that your twins in the middle take it off tuck those in and now when you go to close it you have some little strings that you can tie and keep it closed okay so there you have it we've got our little notebook made this is the one with the string you and see how it keeps it close nice and tight here's our print and cut stickers of our bucket list so then you head to the mountains just peel off your sticker stick it in your little journal and write about it and you're all done I would love to see the booklets and journals you guys make using this super easy technique so go ahead and tag me in your photos on Instagram I'm Amy Robinson design on there and have a good day
