Please explain how to thaw a turkey

hey everybody it's Audrey here so we are cooking and Thanksgiving feast today is my husband's birthday so we thought it'd be fun to put together like a big speech for the family on the next birthday he is video email so i have i've never done a turkey dinner before we have done thanksgiving before in our lives posted it but we have actually never done a full I don't want to ensure keys before my house this video in right now is optimistic for I have an average of our turkey before so I know it's his birthday and I should be cooking this whole feast for him but we want to be edible so he is walking me through the process is that fair to say yeah yeah so yesterday I went and surprised him I got a turkey and I brought it home and the first thing you said to me was it's frozen well I did not realize I didn't get it from the freezer I actually got it from iphone the refrigerated display so I never even thought that it actually would be frozen saw it really wasn't frozen solid was it it was pretty solid I mean but it would still I could tell it was the frozen sava so I got home and he said you know we gotta really going on saw it so we went online to figure out a way to do it so because we weren't going to have the meal until today we went through though the the tip online was to actually get a tub of water put like room temperature water in it and you know just obviously put the turkey inside of it and so the rule of thumb was for every pound of turkey you're supposed to put it in the water for like what is it 30 30 minutes for every pound right this will go well 30 minutes to every pound right so this is a 12-pound turkey so that means for six hours you need to keep it in the water am i right you'll see the wheels turn I know do the math right now I did this earlier so and the cool thing is is that you know used to make sure you're doing it correctly you just change the water every 30 minutes so that's what we've been doing and it's actually two o'clock now and it is time now to take the turkey out but i just want to show you how to actually thought on a turkey because when he told me how to be thought I had no idea I thought you just kind of pop it in the microwave but she said no don't do that so and then you know our turkey is small so in 12 pounds just for our family but if you have a big turkey because Thanksgiving obviously is Thursday they also recommend it taking just a large cooler and doing it that way so we are ready to cook this bird
