how's it going everyone this is master Ken right Kuk Sool wan burton michigan in this video we're going to show you how to fold a martial art uniform the proper way so check it out all right now we're gonna get started with the formal way to fold your uniform okay so come over here to take a look we have the top here we're gonna lay that out flat so ideally you don't want to have any wrinkles in it so you want to have it nice and flat so that these are the front panels lay over top of each other and everything is flat okay so if you have pants that you're gonna fold into them what you would do with those is you set them in the middle like this so that they don't go past the top right you can fold that in if you want doesn't matter it would end up folded up in the end and then the bottoms you just want to fold in like that so they're included inside that a lot of times when you fold your uniforms you don't have the bottoms with it so you just fold the top or whatever but you can do it with the pants in it just like this now try to imagine that there's a center line here and that centre line is where we're going to take all of our folds too so we have this outside edge here where the shoulder and the side of the body are we're gonna fold that to our center line okay and the sleeve just passes over like that what do you want to try to keep it flat if possible then we're gonna take this other side fold that to the center line and the sleeves move over and then you just fold the sleeves back ideally you don't want the sleeves to hang over because they will stick out at the end so I like to tuck that in a little bit so it leaves a little gap there now once we got this folded up we now have our uniform into a rectangle and that's always an important thing when you're folding it that you make your uniform into a rectangle then we have that center line here what we're going to do is grab this and fold it on the center line so that it's in half vertically okay then right here in the middle you're just gonna fold it up like so and now we have the uniform folded and then to top it off you take the belt and you have the belt fold it in half like this so that you go from the middle here start like this you're gonna wrap the belt around it goes over top and over top again then you're gonna take it under like this but you're gonna leave the tips here so that you end up with a loop and then you grab both these loops pull it snug and flatten it and this is the formal way to fold your uniform just like that alright now I'm going to show you another way to fold your uniform this way is a little more convenient this is what I personally use to fold my uniforms just in everyday use one of the reasons you know that I like it is because you don't have to put it on the floor or on your bed or some place like that where a lot of times you'll pick up cat hair or dog hair or things like that so I recommend this one of my students because it's quick and easy and it's a great way to take care of your uniform quickly so let's show you that I got my belt here and the top so what I'm going to do this is just perform the top I think it's kind of hard to fold the pants into this one and this version since we're not laying it on anything but what I'm going to do is I'm gonna stand behind the uniform so that the front of the uniform is facing toward my front and I'm gonna hold the top of the sleeve with my left hand here and then I'm gonna grab the other sleeve like this obviously you're gonna try to hold the top of the sleeve and not the bottom because that will twist it up so we want the sleeves to be nice and flat like that then what we're gonna do is fold them forward and hold them together and then my other hand is going to hold the top of the neck the collar here so now I'm going to hold it out sideways like this put it against my chest and then I'm gonna hold it here then I'm gonna fold this in and make sure I'm folding right on this side line of the uniform and then I fold my sleeves in again so that they're inside like this and then we have a rectangular shape just like this now while it's against my body I'm gonna kind of go down this imagine there's a center line run it down the uniform here I'm gonna fold it vertically like so grab the top with one hand smooth it out a little bit and then fold it in half okay and now as you can see from comparing this to the formal version it's very similar in the results so this is the most convenient way I can I know that you can fold your uniform quit and have it look really sharp now I'm going to show you a quick way on how you can put your belt around it it's a little bit easier than the wraparound method and they're not so this one I have the belt fold it in half and then fold it in quarters like so right so now I'm gonna take it and I'm gonna put it over the uniform like this and then the ends will wrap around and I just reach through this hole grab the ends like that and pull them through now I have my belt wrapped around the uniform in a way that makes it easy and convenient for me to carry to the martial arts school so that I can go train with my classmates alright
