hello this is Derrick Rochelle from all services property maintenance today we're doing a little siding repair this is LP siding not the best stuff in the world but that's what the homeowner wants right now we've signed at this side of the wall right here we've taken it all down and we're gonna put it here back out if I can show you this is the new stuff right here what we've done is we've take parts for the old siding was so that we can easily replace it and what I'm gonna do right now is I'm gonna put up a little piece of siding here basic tools you're going to need is air compressor saw you're gonna need a chop saw a table saw if you want to look out over there on to our job site here you've been doing this for a little while so right here just a few things like I said we have our mark over here so we kind of know what the reveal is we're gonna recut this so just want to make a few quick references here this LP which is now called smart lap only comes in a lemon in half and seven and so what we have on the rest of this house is an 8-inch reveal and the reveal is from what is shown that's why it's called a reveal this is actually had to be cut on a table saw if you can see here to nine and a half but again nine and a half gives us an inch and a half overlap so that we have an eight-inch reveal and it goes with the society so this is a great sign again this is a Hitachi over here right here is match these up to our marks here we've cut it out and we've described it from our other board that we took off so we don't want to make sure that so yeah here is we got our mark right here you got our eight-inch reveal here and we've lined it up over here with their other mark so we're just gonna do now is gonna put one in the edge not too close and that's gonna hide it when you put our next piece on that nail head it's gonna be hidden and then just kind of put them I do about every 12 to 16 inches and then one on the side here but not again not too close to the edge so doesn't break off the siding and there you go that's how it's done
