Please explain how to make your own carbonated water

my name is Bill and I'd like to share with you little kitchen physics now for a long time I've been making my own sparkling water and not very many people really think about this but you start drinking a lot of soda water you're gonna find that it's actually quite expensive in fact it's so you drip off so right here I've got a tank carbon dioxide this is a little bit larger I start with a much smaller tank but bigger is better I explain why it costs about $28 to refill this this tank will ask me probably eight or nine months we generally go through about two to three liters a day of a sparkling soda water and I don't know but it costs us almost nothing to make basically if you think about two or three litres a day spread out over eight or nine months for 30 bucks I mean come on that's a pretty good deal so what you do is you use a 2-liter bottle that has been pre chilled in the fridge and you'll notice now this has got a little bit too much water in it so let me let that up I like the bottle to be about somewhere between two-thirds and three-quarters full I've got here on the tank I've got a regulator you can get this from any brew store and I have it set to be about you know where between 40 to 50 psi 50s pretty good there's absolutely no danger of exploding the 2-liter you know Sprite bottle or whatever it is that you want to use reuse for this purpose there's no danger of that because the bottles are designed to withstand falling on the floor and if the bottle falls on the floor in a 7-eleven or something and bounces on the floor it's gonna have a heck of a lot more than 50 psi in it so they can withstand well over 100 I believe so that's not an issue I've been using this particular bottle for actually far too long so also from the brew supply house what you can get us some hoses that you can put on there there's a special adapter and a special cap that will go on the end of the two-liter bottle so what I'll do first is I don't have any pressure in here basically that's there's a little bit of residual but it's not turned on first I will put this on the water's cold there we go I've got a good seal now I'm going to open this up yeah that's yeah 45 to 50 then you just take it up real hard so when you do this you're mixing in the carbon dioxide into the cold water and the water is cold basic chemistry that's going to allow more co2 into the water obviously then if it was warm so here you go and that's about it turn off the valve you don't want anything to leak out of here break out here because that's wasteful and let me pull a glass up here unscrewing the top there we go got quite a bit of bubbles in there and you will be amazed at how incredibly carbonated the water is and I use filtered water from a grid of history to use anything but it works quite well this in fact is so carbonated that you will something I've got a hard time drinking it I really love this stuff thanks guys and remember science and knowledge how your friends
